I cannot say enough good things about our 5 day trip to Revel. We parked on level 5 because there were spaces close to the elevator. Any level is good as you take the elevator either to the casino on 6 or the lobby on 11. We got there about 3 o'clock and traffic was terrible on the Garden State Parkway. We were so happy to get there safe and sound. The signage for self parking was clear and we had no problems. It was quite busy and there was a line at reception but it went extremely fast. The hotel staff were highly organized with two staff directing us to reception and I liked that there was one line so you didn't have to worry about which line to go in and find out another line would have been far faster. LOL We were lucky enough to walk up to Maria Gonzales who set the tone of our whole trip. Her smile and genuine welcome surprised us as we had read many reviews saying staff were cold and unhelpful. I asked if it was possible to get an ocean view room and she said very possible but could we wait for about a 1/2 an hour as the room still needed cleaning. Needless to say we were happy to do so. We wished we hadn't brought our luggage up with us as we could have walked the beautiful beach but instead, I logged onto my tablet, wifi was great, and talked to our kids at home. After my husband checked in 20 and it was not yet ready, we walked around the corner of the lobby to find an empty pool table. Well we had two games of pool and when he went back they told us the room actually was ready 5 minutes after he had left the first time. No worries, we had a fun two games. To our surprise our room was on the 48th floor- the top level! I am afraid of heights but my husband was so excited I told him I would try it. There are three separate elevators, so after security checked our key at the main entrance to the rooms, we walked into the area for levels 39-48. This was awesome as you didn't have to wait for an elevator or have a long "milk run" as my husband calls it. Also there were SIX elevators so the wait was never long even though the hotel was at capacity several days of our stay.
Upon entering our room our mouths dropped as we looked over the beautiful Atlantic ocean from floor to ceiling windows. It was sooo peaceful and calm and the room was absolutely functional and beautiful! The bed was one of the comfiest we have slept on and the pillows were perfect. We had brought pillows and never had to go get them! The only two areas that I could fault, was no coffeemaker in the room, but we knew this ahead of time, and no bath, again we knew this. The showerhead offered many settings so this made up for no bath. Thanks to Jaqueline Johnson for supplying us with towels and keeping our room immaculate.
We walked the beach every morning and so got coffee at other places, like Dunkin Doughnuts, as both my husband and I did not care for the coffee at Revel- it is very strong as we had tried it the year before when we visited during our stay at the Tropicana. I had asked if they had changed suppliers and when they said no, we did not even try the coffee. This really didn't bother us as the walk on the beach was great... we brought our coffees back to the pool and sat and watched the ocean. Yes, the pool area overlooks the ocean and is heated, clean and even has music to listen to above and under the water- yes they pipe in music underwater!! The towels are plush and oversized...we loved them as many times you get skimpy, towels and need like 3 to cover your chairs. The lounges were top quality and comfortable. A few more umbrellas would not hurt to help with shade but we brought our beach umbrella one day and tied it to the chair... that did the trick! We had brought beach chairs but never had the chance to take them to the beach!
Now for the restaurants. Revel offers so many choices it is mind boggling but our very favourite was Relish. We went there the first night as we wanted something light. My husband likes to kibbitz so we quickly made friends with Deborah, the hostess. She was so very friendly you would have thought we had known each other forever. She offered to take our pictures while we waited for a table... not long... 5 minutes. She recommended certain items on the menu and she knew her stuff. The prices here are reasonable and the food cooked in a kitchen that you can see so you know you are getting safe food, We had the hamburgers which we were shocked to see were homemade. They were delicious, I chose a salad as a side and my husband had the fries... both were fresh and yummy. This place was so friendly, efficient, delicious and comfortable that we went back two more times for the turkey club which was amazing!!!!! Again, with salad or fries. We only ever drink water with our meals so the bill was approximately 24 dollars and a tip. Seriously, check out Relish, say hi to Deborah, tell her Terry and Sandy from Canada sent you... she will get a kick out of that! For my birthday dinner, our trip was a birthday present from my husband, we chose the Italian restaurant Lugo. My husband went the day before to pick out a table and book. He spoke to a lovely lady who was the manager but I don't think we ever got her name. She promised she would do her best to save the seat for us. We arrived and true to her word our table was there for us. I ordered chicken parmigiana and Terry ordered salmon. My chicken was absolutely delicious and the noodles were homemade but the sauce was very salty for me and I only had a few bites. The waitress offered to take it back but by then I was full from the chicken. My mistake was in not asking what was recommended as my husband's salmon was delicious and he loved it. This restaurant was pricy as it cost us 60 dollars and we had no drinks or apps. They did bring over a delicious almond torte for my birthday and it was greatly appreciated and certainly not expected. We thanked the manager for her kindness as we left. Would I recommend Lugos? Yes, if you check with staff first. We also enjoyed Margaritaville on the Boardwalk. We were with relatives and got a table for 6 in a replica of Jimmy Buffet's boat. Our waitress was amazing and sorry to say I never got her name. I do not recommend the nachos... they are huge, dripping with cheese that then made the nachos terribly soggy, but my talipia fish sandwich was very good and the marguarita's yummy. You can actually get one in a take home blender. We went to the Borgata for the lunch buffet and for 40 dollars enjoyed one of the best buffets ever. I think Bellagios in Vegas does have more but Borgata's was very good and reasonable. We had no dinner that night as we were still full!! We highly recommend the Borgata buffet.
I have to say we hardly ever gamble but this time we did and I ended up coming out with 40 dollars to the good. We loved the Revel casino, airy and only one small smoking section. The bathrooms, by the way, were spotless and so beautiful, yes a bathroom was beautiful! We loved the Legends in Concert show at Ballys... really at Claridge, which is a part of Ballys. We sat second row center and saw "Rod Stewart" awesome, "Katie Perry", meh, and I do really like the real Katie Perry, "Michael Buble" .soo good, "Britney Spears", looked and sang just like her!! and finally "Elvis" who stole the show. After you could go over and take pictures with them and when we were with Elvis, I told him we were from Canada and that they were sooo patriotic in the States, as he had sang Glory Hallelujah to a standing crowd. To which he replied I'm from Richmond Hill!!! (that's near Toronto in Canada for those who don't know) LOL Highly recommend this show but book early as tickets go fast. We also walked down, after the show, to Boardwalk Hall where we viewed a light and sound show that was very well done.
The outlet malls had lots of stores to shop in and many deals to be had. The Pier Shops at Caesars were amazing and even Revel's stores had some beautiful jewelry and clothing. The best part was walking on the beach every morning and relaxing at the pool. Oh, forgot to mention the beautiful outdoor gardens and sitting areas with loungers and fireplaces. We spent one unforgettable night under the stars just chilling. We came home rested and refreshed. Thank you Revel for a wonderful vacation. My husband inquired on the manager of the resort. Eddie Yago, you have an awesome staff, a first class facility, and we will be returning again next summer and bringing our adult children because there is so much to do!
Ask for an odd number room for a view of the water.
