“Beautiful hotel, horrible staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013 via mobile

Everything was great until we checked out the next day and had bell service take our bags to valet. We waited in the car for our bags for 15 minutes before a bell man came to tell us he couldn't find our bags. He stated that the bell man who picked up our bags from the room probably gave us the wrong ticket and this "happens sometimes", (shouldn't this happen almost never???). We were taken to a giant room filled with other people's luggage to look through and try to find our things. Well our luggage was not there so the bell man sent us back to our car while he got a "manager". A few minutes later a manager came out and told us our luggage was located and on its way down. Well the luggage that was brought to the car was not ours and I assume whosever it was had the wrong ticket as well. We were then told by the manager that we could leave and when our things were located they would mail them and she could send us a "promotion" in the mail for our "inconvenience". It wasn't until I informed them I would be getting the police involved that the situation was taken seriously. We were ushered back upstairs into the lobby and told to sit and wait while they tracked down the original bellman and investigated where the luggage went. After about an hour the luggage was finally located. The bellman did 2 runs at once and left our bags sitting in the hallway of another floor because he forgot about them. They did comp a portion of our room charge for the trouble but this whole incident and the way it was handled ruined the stay for us. Doubtful we will be back.

“Very nice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

I only visited the casino, but I have to say very nice. This was my first trip to AC. We visited several casinos. The machines at Revel were clean as well as the rest of the property. Guest Service was fabulous. You are greeted at the door with an offer of assistance and again at the top of the escalators. I always worry that a new property has to pay the mortgage, so machines are sometimes tight. This was not the case here. The first machine I put cash in immediately paid. I found the smoke-free casino refreshing and I imagine this helps the property stay clean. Especially since it was nasty cigarette ash all over the machines at other properties that I found quite disgusting. My only suggestion would be to increase marketing efforts. There were few billboards and no obvious signs directing guests to the property. I would also advertise the no smoking policy like crazy.

“Pricey but luxurious! Rooms may vary.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

I stayed at Revel for the second time in December 2012 -- we were in AC to see Kanye perform at the resort. I think the rooms are generally quite luxurious (and the beds are amazingly comfortable!). Unfortunately, we were booked in a handicap accessible room (I don't know why), so there was a shower curtain, no shower door, and the water from the shower drained all over the bathroom floor, requiring us to cover the bathroom floor with towels. Obviously, I understand that the hotel is required to maintain a certain number of accessible rooms -- and I think that's a good thing -- but I don't know whether it's appropriate to charge unsuspecting guests the regular rate when placing them in a significantly less luxurious room. The bathroom in our room was not nearly as nice as the bathroom in the room I had stayed in previously, but our room rate was actually more than one hundred dollars more expensive (around $500). I don't really gamble so I pay full price for the rooms, and $500 felt like way too much for the room we stayed in. We were in town with another couple who had been comped a room, and their (free) room was MUCH nicer than ours.

At the time, we didn't think to say anything to the front desk staff, in part because our stay was so short. If I stay here again in the future, I will confirm that we are not staying in an accessible room.

As a side note, it is also VERY strange that there are no ipod/iphone docking stations in the rooms!! This drove my boyfriend crazy, because the rooms are otherwise very technologically advanced. This might be a worthwhile addition at some future point.

Overall, I would recommend Revel; the rooms are generally quite nice and the resort features some great performers (and the concert hall is very convenient to the hotel). I do feel a bit "ripped off" after our last stay, however, so we may explore other luxury hotel options in AC as well.

“Hotel is first class. Gambling could be better.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

I've visited Revel 3 times for gambling/entertainment since it has opened. We finally decided to give the hotel a shot this January. The room was $199+tax for a Saturday night stay, which we felt was competitive with comparable hotels like the Borgata.

Everything about the stay was first class. We were a bit confused how to reach the check in area from the garage on the 6th floor (I believe you should park on the "city" side of the garage as it will get you closer to the check in area. The "ocean" side will put you in the casino). A worker noticed our confusion and, instead of simply giving us directions, he happily led us across the property to the check-in area. He politely declined a gratuity for helping us.

The rooms were immaculate and modern, which should be expected given the newness of the property. The beds were comfortable and the views from our floor (46th if I remember properly) were very nice. They use internet-enabled tablets (that double as phones) to control the room, including the lights, TV, and minibar. The bathroom did not contain a bathtub, but the shower was spacious and had a bench for you to sit, if you wished.

The bell service took a bit longer (about 30 minutes) than we had hoped to delivery our bags, but we arrived at a busy time and the guy apologized for taking longer than planned. We ordered room service twice and were promptly taken care of both times by the staff. The food and drinks were very good and well-presented. All and all everyone we came across at the hotel was very courteous, professional and attentive to our questions and needs. They all commented that it was busy that weekend and seemed to be very grateful that the hotel was popping, which should come as no surprise considering the financial struggles of the hotel being constantly reported in the press.

My only beef with the property is the gambling area. I just cannot get excited about playing here. They offer 3-4-5X odds on craps and the dealers I've encountered are bland. You can find better craps games and more entertaining dealers elsewhere in the city. Also, I think their minimums are too high to keep a crowd for very long. A good example is a blackjack game I was playing next to (I believe) Amada for $25 minimums. The area was already somewhat sparse when the pit boss came around and started upping all the tables to $50 and $100. When I asked her why they'd be increasing the minimums, she just shook her head and said "I don't understand why since it's not busy right now, but management wants it higher for a Saturday night." Within 15 minutes that entire section was cleared out. In comparison, Borgata's floor always seems to be popping with people and games with reasonable minimums while maintaining a high-class environment. The atmosphere is much more energetic as well. The gambling is not all bad (we played blackjack until 3:30 am next to the jellybean), but to be honest, I have more fun gambling at Harrah's or Atlantic Club than this place. Just not enough people or excitement for this place to be my first gambling stop in AC.

Like I said though, the hotel is great. We're planning to come back in March to stay there again. If you are a non-smoker and can get a competitive rate vs. a hotel like the Borgata, I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Park on the city side of the garage to get closer to check in.

“Very Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We stayed at Revel to celebrate the New Year 2013!!! This Hotel is huge with a very trendy atmosphere! The rooms are big and very clean. Overal service is very good. Food is good also. Casino area is awesome! They have many bars and restaurants in location.

Room Tip: Choose a "right side" room if you want a nice beach/casinos view....
