“Modern and Upscale..Great stay in AC!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

This was my first time at Revel. Have heard a lot about it. Glad I gave it a shot. The other hotels need to take notes. Room was spacious with great ocean views. Large shower and bathroom.

As to be expected for a weekend the hallway got a bit loud with people returning late night, but other than that no complaints.

Casino was a bit small, but adequate. Caters to a younger crowd. Seems most are here for dining, lounges, clubs etc.
There are table games slots and stuff, but relatively lower minimums than I have seen in Saturday nights at other casinos

Great restaurants, and a lot of cool common places just to sit, hang out, whatever.

This is my first trip to AC that I did not casino hop, no need all you need is here in a beautiful new upscale hotel/casino.

Stay here you'll be glad you did.

“Truly a disappointed with service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

My husband and I stayed at Revel Thanksgiving night 2012. I had read that there was a reception for guests with a free drink at the O2 bar but couldn't remember the time. After checking in, I went to the bar and asked the bartender for the time of the reception and he any time would be fine. After dinner, we went to the bar for our free drinks. We were told that our $22 charge for 1 wine and 1 beer would be credited to our room and go ahead and put $2 more for the tip because we were allowed a $24 credit. After our drinks, we went to our room and decided to splurge on a bottle of wine from the mini bar. Couldn't find pricing in the room so called the front desk. The clerk proceeded to rattle off pricing and I asked him to stop and just give me the price of the bottle of white wine. He told me it was $21.

The next morning we checked out via the kiosk in the lobby. The bar charge and a higher charge for the mini bar wine ($29.96) were on the receipt but there was a credit of $58.96. When we got home, I called the hotel to straighten it out and was told that was the correct credit. Of course, 4 days later Revel reversed the credit. I called again and spoke with AJ about the bar bill and the increased cost of the wine and he said he would check on it and call me back. One week later I had not received a call back. Once again, I called and spoke with AJ. He said he was able to credit $22 back to us but he could not credit the $2 tip the bartender told us to add to the charge nor could he credit us the $8.96 difference between what was quoted for the wine from the mini bar and what was actually charged because there was no way to prove that it had been misquoted.

I called again and spoke to a "manager" and was told there was nothing he was willing to do other than assure me that he would speak to the staff about their mistakes. I mean really? They are begging people to stay at their hotel and this is how they are going to treat their guest! We will never stay there again and are advising others to stay away as well. I have spent way too much time to end up with so little satisfaction. Their lack of concern has ruined the whole experience.

“well designed, hope it makes it.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

My wife and I stayed at the Revel overnight (thursday-friday) after seeing the Neil Young Hurricane Sandy Benefit show at the Borgata. The hotel is very nice, very modern and very cool. We were impressed with sleek design. The hotel actually connects to the boardwalk and the ocean. Easy parking, easy check in.

Lots of food choices, although $100 -$200 for dinner before a show at the Mussle Bar was too rich for our taste. We grabbed salads and veggie burgers at the Village Whiskey instead. The food was good, especially the tater tots. Good veggie burger and cobb salad. I had a worthy house rye manhattan. Good, attentive service, although it was so dark that I needed a candle to read the menu. (note to staff- make the text larger on menus if you are turning the lights down). I would go back to drink. Great selection of whiskey, classy place although it was a bit loud.

Our room was very nice. It reminded me of the Hudson Hotel in NYC but it was 5x larger with an ocean view.

This place is BIG. The Revel was built for crowds. I hope they come this place is so much nicer than much of the tacky crap in AC. We didnt gamble, and from the looks of things no one else did either while we were there. The staff was friendly, no compliants there. I plan on going back. I love that the whole building is smoke free. I hope that the Revel, Borgata and Chelsea are the future of AC and that the tacky Showboat, Taj and Ceasars one day go by the wayside.

“Don't stay anywhere else in AC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

I am a frequent visitor to AC, usually staying at the south end of the Boardwalk. Last weekend the Revel's rate was the same as the Trop, so we decided to give it a try, and now we won't be staying anywhere else in AC! The hotel and casino are beautiful (and non-smoking!). The rooms are very nice with amazing views. We had lunch at the Village Whiskey and dinner at the Tapas restaurant both of which were great, and did not seem that terrible of a rip-off pricewise. All the staff we dealt with were courteous and professional which was a noticable change from everywhere else in AC! The pool and exercise room were free to use, and were great. The pool, even for being indoor/outdoor was very pleasant. All in all I cannot say enough good things about the hotel - its a classy joint. As a final touch they have a FREE coffee bar in the morning outside the lobby elevators! My only complaint was the noise Sat night - on the 18th floor we could distantly hear the nightclub music, and there was a steady parade of drunk and loud revelers on our floor, but that is to be expected anywhere in AC I reckon.

“Food poisoning at their Sky Cafe / Alcove ( Revel )”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

I had to post this after the supervisor could not be bothered to come out and talk to me when I checked out today (12/5/2012.) It is wholly upon them that I am now posting to TripAdvisor as warning to the world about their lack of food safety handling procedures and failure to "make things right" after the fact.

On 12/4, I had a crab cake benedict with a cup of coffee a little before 9AM. After returning to my room, already queasy, I was violently ill from "both ends" for an hour. As soon as able, a little after 10AM, I spoke to the Alcove management about immediately checking their age and storage conditions of their hollandaise sauce, sauteed spinach, and pulled crab meat used in the preparation. I don't think it was the eggs or the toasted potatoes that came with the dish. They told me that security would visit to take a statement.

Two men from security did show up and took my statement; pretty much what I told the Alcove manager.

I spent the day convalescing with a bottle of Powerade diluted with water. So much for hitting the Seaview golf courses. Later that night, I stopped by Registered Guest services to ask that the $38 breakfast be removed from my folio. The attendant said that it was still an "open folio" and they were waiting on security or something similar.

One may successfully argue about the risks inherent in poached eggs & hollandaise sauces (a yolk-based preparation.) That is beside the point. When a guest is waylaid to the point he has to escalate things to the point that their security gets involved, it should be taken seriously. I did not drive two hours from New York City to cheat Revel out of a breakfast meal!

Flash forward to today (12/5) at the checkout desk; the attendant said that security should have given me a "riss" or "risk" number (probably the latter) and they couldn't do anything about the charge. I gave up at this point. I mean, this is a CASINO RESORT where the powers that be can comp and upgrade practically anything, send out limos to pick up high rollers, etc. Guess the powers that be will not see me at their craps tables, ever (unless they do something racy like 100x odds.)

Anyway, the rest of the hotel was in new condition, the staff was courteous and polite, the rooms were nice (although a flexible hose shower head was desired by my wife.) When I say staff, I did not cuss out the young lady that helped me checkout today; I place my anger upon the head of her supervisor who did not make this right. Remain hidden in your cubicle.

Dine there at your own risk.
