“well designed, hope it makes it.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

My wife and I stayed at the Revel overnight (thursday-friday) after seeing the Neil Young Hurricane Sandy Benefit show at the Borgata. The hotel is very nice, very modern and very cool. We were impressed with sleek design. The hotel actually connects to the boardwalk and the ocean. Easy parking, easy check in.

Lots of food choices, although $100 -$200 for dinner before a show at the Mussle Bar was too rich for our taste. We grabbed salads and veggie burgers at the Village Whiskey instead. The food was good, especially the tater tots. Good veggie burger and cobb salad. I had a worthy house rye manhattan. Good, attentive service, although it was so dark that I needed a candle to read the menu. (note to staff- make the text larger on menus if you are turning the lights down). I would go back to drink. Great selection of whiskey, classy place although it was a bit loud.

Our room was very nice. It reminded me of the Hudson Hotel in NYC but it was 5x larger with an ocean view.

This place is BIG. The Revel was built for crowds. I hope they come this place is so much nicer than much of the tacky crap in AC. We didnt gamble, and from the looks of things no one else did either while we were there. The staff was friendly, no compliants there. I plan on going back. I love that the whole building is smoke free. I hope that the Revel, Borgata and Chelsea are the future of AC and that the tacky Showboat, Taj and Ceasars one day go by the wayside.

“Don't stay anywhere else in AC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

I am a frequent visitor to AC, usually staying at the south end of the Boardwalk. Last weekend the Revel's rate was the same as the Trop, so we decided to give it a try, and now we won't be staying anywhere else in AC! The hotel and casino are beautiful (and non-smoking!). The rooms are very nice with amazing views. We had lunch at the Village Whiskey and dinner at the Tapas restaurant both of which were great, and did not seem that terrible of a rip-off pricewise. All the staff we dealt with were courteous and professional which was a noticable change from everywhere else in AC! The pool and exercise room were free to use, and were great. The pool, even for being indoor/outdoor was very pleasant. All in all I cannot say enough good things about the hotel - its a classy joint. As a final touch they have a FREE coffee bar in the morning outside the lobby elevators! My only complaint was the noise Sat night - on the 18th floor we could distantly hear the nightclub music, and there was a steady parade of drunk and loud revelers on our floor, but that is to be expected anywhere in AC I reckon.

“Food poisoning at their Sky Cafe / Alcove ( Revel )”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

I had to post this after the supervisor could not be bothered to come out and talk to me when I checked out today (12/5/2012.) It is wholly upon them that I am now posting to TripAdvisor as warning to the world about their lack of food safety handling procedures and failure to "make things right" after the fact.

On 12/4, I had a crab cake benedict with a cup of coffee a little before 9AM. After returning to my room, already queasy, I was violently ill from "both ends" for an hour. As soon as able, a little after 10AM, I spoke to the Alcove management about immediately checking their age and storage conditions of their hollandaise sauce, sauteed spinach, and pulled crab meat used in the preparation. I don't think it was the eggs or the toasted potatoes that came with the dish. They told me that security would visit to take a statement.

Two men from security did show up and took my statement; pretty much what I told the Alcove manager.

I spent the day convalescing with a bottle of Powerade diluted with water. So much for hitting the Seaview golf courses. Later that night, I stopped by Registered Guest services to ask that the $38 breakfast be removed from my folio. The attendant said that it was still an "open folio" and they were waiting on security or something similar.

One may successfully argue about the risks inherent in poached eggs & hollandaise sauces (a yolk-based preparation.) That is beside the point. When a guest is waylaid to the point he has to escalate things to the point that their security gets involved, it should be taken seriously. I did not drive two hours from New York City to cheat Revel out of a breakfast meal!

Flash forward to today (12/5) at the checkout desk; the attendant said that security should have given me a "riss" or "risk" number (probably the latter) and they couldn't do anything about the charge. I gave up at this point. I mean, this is a CASINO RESORT where the powers that be can comp and upgrade practically anything, send out limos to pick up high rollers, etc. Guess the powers that be will not see me at their craps tables, ever (unless they do something racy like 100x odds.)

Anyway, the rest of the hotel was in new condition, the staff was courteous and polite, the rooms were nice (although a flexible hose shower head was desired by my wife.) When I say staff, I did not cuss out the young lady that helped me checkout today; I place my anger upon the head of her supervisor who did not make this right. Remain hidden in your cubicle.

Dine there at your own risk.

“Best Hotel in AC for Young Couples/Friends and Smoke Free!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

We arrived in AC early, so we hit the outlets! Coming from NY, no sales tax and great holiday sales were a real perk! Once we headed to the hotel my boyfriend and I knew to do self parking instead of the $10 valet service (thanks to TripAdvisor reviews!). I will give everyone some advice... If you do self-parking find an elevator and go to Floor 2 or Casino Floor to check in! We had a little trouble finding check-in but it's only because the hotel is so grand!

Upon entering the hotel we felt like royalty. There was a beautiful wedding going on so people were walking around in black tie formal wear. The hotel was wonderfully decorated for the holiday season and they really put a lot of effort into the little details. I was thrilled that the hotel is a smoke free casino, since I'm a non-smoker and Asthmatic. The whole hotel felt very upscale from the decor, amenities, service, and the rooms. When we checked in I told the concierge that it was our anniversary and she gave us a room on the 45th floor with a view of the ocean and the bay. Our room was clean, modern, and luxurious!

During our one night stay we tried to take full advantage of everything the hotel had to offer. We took a dip in the indoor-outdoor pool, the outdoor section is still open even in cold weather because it's heated. The towel guy was so friendly and pleasant and the pool was not crowded at all. We ate dinner at The Village Whiskey which was pretty good. The prices are high, but to stay at this kind of hotel what else would you expect? If you're looking for more affordable options head away from the hotel to the outlets where there is a Ruby Tuesday, etc.

We spent about 2 1/2 hours in the casino... I would definitely recommend signing up for the Revel Card if you're a big gambler. We went in knowing we'd probably lose some money but came out winning $60 from the slots! There was great music, and it was crowded but not overly so. I liked that I could BREATHE in this casino free from the smoke! I think Revel is definitely on the right track and catering to a different crowd, in a really good way!

All of the staff that we encountered during our stay were polite, helpful, and friendly! I'm not sure why so many others had issues with that... Overall, we had an amazing stay at Revel! Not sure if we could afford it during peak season, but we will definitely be back :)

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor for the best view! We were on the 45th. Must check out the indoor-outdoor poo...

“Revel Revealed a Good Time!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

A girls getaway...We were a tad disappointed in our first room assignment but they quickly found us a better choice. All the while with a smile. Off to the spa we went while our new room was being cleaned. SPPAAAHHHH...really lovely time. Great relaxing massage. Wonderful facility--will review that separately.
Our room was really just right--comfy beds--big bathrooms--nice view--the resort is a bit cavernous...but i really liked the small areas with chairs or a fire pit...makes it more cozy.
Everyone we encountered was professional and happy and really wonderful.
Room service was quick and quite tasty.
Ate at American Cut and Lugo's --Ambience at American Cut was ok--screens blaring football a turnoff and food was over seasoned--wouldn't return. Now Lugos.....had the $35 3 course special...OMG. Warm atmosphere. Outstanding food. Great service. Would go back in a heartbeat. Especially for those meatballs...yum.
Casino was a little dead..but we had fun.
I would definitely return.

Room Tip: Rooms with lower numbers are closer to the ocean...hence better views. And rooms with even end numb...
