Although Resorts will remain our favorite hotel and casino, we encounted some disappointing and irritating experiences during our stay. Yet, on a positive note, we found the food and beverage service and food OUTSTANDING. The food and beverage staff were very friendly and accomodating. The upper level supervisory staff were overwhelming for its efficiency and willingness to accomodate us. Also, we loved the art deco beauty of the casino and hotel and in particular, our hotel room in Rendevous Tower. Our room was simply marvelous - it was very clean, spacious and luxurious. Also, it contained a safe and refridgerator, ammenities which, we sorely learned, were NOT in all of Resorts hotel rooms.

As for the negative aspect, at first, we were given the standard room in the Ocean Tower. The hallways, at least in our section of the Ocean Tower, needed intense renovation and the carpetting was disgusting. It had a loud, plaid pattern - which does not indicate a soothing environment. The room was much, much worse. It had a beach theme circa late 1970's/early 1980's with stark white walls, that were grimy, and hideous stained orange furniture. The carpet was worn and dirty. The whole room had a grungy feel. A few repairs were needed. We both realized that there is NO way we could enjoy our vacation in such a depressing room, yet, the highlight of this disaster was that there was NO safe NOR refridgerator. We just assumed that all of Resorts rooms had, at least, a safe. We called the front desk to request another room and specifically requested another room with a safe. We were told to go back to the front desk and they would handle it. When we arrived, we had a LONG line to endure at the front desk. We were patient, under the circumstances. The clerk told us that there were NO rooms available with a safe. She gave us another room, a "junior suite" in the Ocean Tower, on the same floor. It was every bit like the other room - except it had two bathrooms. Finally, I called and complained - and asked for a supervisor. That supervisor indicated that there NO rooms available, then I requested to speak to her supervisor. Her supervisor got us a room in the Rendevous Tower. She was very gracious and accomodating. She explained that the room would not be ready for a few hours - as it needed cleaned. We were delighted and did not mind waiting at all - we just wanted a cleaner, comfortable room with a safe. When we entered our room, we were so very happy with it. It was everything we wanted.

As for the slots, we were painfully disappointed. We always go to Atlantic City with a budget and NO expections of winning jackpots. In fact, we expect to lose - but NOT at such a rapid pace. Further, to us, it's a real win if we manage to break even. Almost every slot in Resorts was tight and with what little payouts that were offered - they were measley and minimal at best. We tried various machines - each mostly, with awful results. We trekked over to Trump Taj - and actually won and increased our playing time. Regarding Resorts' slots - this is NOT the first time it happened - during several previous trips, we noticed that the slots have become tighter with each trip. We are not the ONLY people who feel this way.

Regarding the Resorts Destination Club, we just wish we could access a list of our comp benefits online like Harrah's and Trump's.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay and appreciated the fact that Resorts did make accomodations. We will definetly stay there again. Hopefully, the slots will be looser the next time.

Had a Saturday comp room. Even free, it wasn't worth staying there and they gave me one of their better floors in the older tower. Gambled to all hours -- they attract a lot of down-and-out people who seem not to bathe and smell. Beverage service is very poor. Went to the room at 4am -- it was freezing and the heating unit would only put air conditioning. The walls were paper thin with elder neighbors yelling to hear each other -- called security 3 times before they did anything. Remote control to the tv didn't work. The handle to the bathroom sink came off in my hand. 2 hours sleep in a freezing environment -- not my idea of fun.

We stayed in the Rendezvous Tower right after Christmas, comped room. Everything was great except the beds were hard as a rock! Really, the most uncomfortable bed I've slept on (or tried to sleep) in a very long time. The decor is nice, the place is clean, nice view, ample towels, etc.......BUT it makes you wonder what they were thinking when they put those hard beds in the room. Don't they know places like Radisson and Hampton Inn finally realized people don't want those hard beds any more? That's why they put Sleep Number and pillow-tops mattresses on the beds.

  • Liked — Spacious room, exc. bathroon
  • Disliked — VERY hard mattresses, pool crowded with kids in summer

The good and the bad
The good
1 The casino is large with tables at night with $15 and $10 minimum
2 The 25 bar and its Happy Hour good place to watch a football game
3
The personel were all friendly and pleasant
The bad
1 the bed and pillows were very hard, the sheets were too small for the bed and felt like tissue paper
2 Went to Gallaghers ordered 2 steaks one was cooked perfect the otherwas raw.... Should have known better than to send it back but for $42 I wanted to be able to eat it. When it came back 10 minutes later it was brown and horrible ...Manager apologizedc and offered us dessert .

We loved our room at the Rendezvous Tower of the Resorts. My hubby and I arrived Sunday, Nov 19, 2006 in the afternoon. We parked in the garage. The elevator from the garage led right inside the hotel just steps away from the check-in desk. Check-in at this time was a breeze. The room was as beautiful as it was pictured on the website. The bed was good. The Casino was packed until about 10:00pm (when I think a lot of the bus trips must have departed). After then we had a roulette table to ourselves for a while. (FYI there was a $5.00 roulette table until noon on Monday morning. If you are playing just for fun like me, the $5 minimum helps you play a little longer.) Sunday night we ate in the Luna Bar just to avoid the buffet scene and check out the ball game. The food was good not great.

The Resorts is right off the boardwalk and beach. On Monday morning we enjoyed a peaceful walk on the beach and picked up some great sea shells. I can just imagine how much fun Resorts must be in the summer being right on the beach.

Resorts is near the Taj Mahal, but a bit far from the big block of casinos (including Trump Plaza, Bally's, Caesar's etc.) This didn't really bother us. We were satisfied to play in the Resorts. The next day we casino hopped to the Borgata, just because we heard how nice it was. Next time we go we will probably stay at the Borgata - it reminded us more of the top notch Las Vegas hotels than Rendezvous - but we still highly recommend the Rendezvous Tower of the Resorts.

  • Liked — The bathroom, beach location
  • Disliked — That it was far away from the big block of casinos. Needs a few more restaurants
  • Tips/Secrets: — This is a nice November getaway.
