I live within a half-hour's drive of AC, and this is my favorite place of all of them. While many rave about Borgata, I find it cold, and the buffet so-so at best. Trump Marina might need a bit of a facelift, but I find it comfortable and clean. Reading about some of the room complaints truly surprised me.
I was checking in on a comped room, and was pleasantly surprised when offered a free upgrade to a suite. Needless to say, I grabbed it. I've seen the high-roller suites at Resorts and at the Trop before the addition of the Quarter ( and, like in this instance, by luck, not by being a high roller myself), and I will say that I found the Marina's suite superior.
It was excellent. It was stereotypical Trump-Goldplate or goldtone fixtures, heavy on the gold colors, etc. It was nicely appointed and had a jacuzzi in the living room. I couldn't help but chuckle as I walked through it, knowing what people have paid to stay in accomodations like this, yet the Gods (or the clerks) smiled on me and made it mine for a night.
While a chaise lounge in the suite was a bit threadbare, it was extremely comfortable. Room service was a bit slow due to events going on and a packed house, but when it did get there, everything was great. Two bathrooms, one with a glass stalled shower, the other with a tub and shower, were extremely convenient. The television operated at the foot of the bed with a button that retracted the TV into the furniture.
The buffet is better than Resorts' buffet, not as good as Taj but still very good, and I've become a cold shrimp snob. I just don't like it unless it's the way the Trump properties make them. The Upstairs Cafe is also very convenient, and good.
The pool is nice, and the health club facility, while not huge, has everything you might want if you need a break from the gaming. While I can't say I'd spend out-of-pocket to stay in the suite again (because free room offers from all the casinos come along), I am extremely glad to have stayed there, and that upgrade definitely turned me on to bringing the bulk of my business there.
