“Total transformation”

After researching several casinos in AC I took my girlfriend here for a spa get away on her birthday. She had stayed here when it was the old Trump Marina and was blown away at every turn by the job the new owners have done transforming every aspect of the casino. The views from every angle were fantastic. Every service person we encountered was friendly and helpful and the accommodations were just as nice as described and pictured and the spa was better than I had imagined. Will definitely visit again and already have friends planning trips here after seeing our pictures.

We stay at the casinos on the beach side most of the time. We enjoy going to the Golden Nugget just to get away from all the craziness. The rooms are nice and clean with great views. I have read some of the other reviews about the lay out of the bathroom being wrong and people doing all kinds of stuff at the pool. Really... yes the pool gets busy and yes it is sometimes the younger crowd but I never seen people "all over each other" as one person put it. The pool area should have more seating that you don't have to pay for. We already pay enough. The casino is small and I like that. They have some of the better slot machines. And the Chart House is our favorite place to eat. We have never had a bad time or anyone be rude ,always a great stay..And lets face it, people who say everything cost.OH COURSE it does.Nothing is free!.

Stayed here for a few days and I fell in love with this place. It is not at all a trashy hotel. It was clean and up to date. I really enjoyed all the bars and restaurants in this hotel. I also loved that this wasn't as close to the strip ( seemed a bit better and safer). Will definitely come here again soon.

I chose this hotel and casino because I called three reservations desks, and all of them were rude except for this one. They were very nice. They quoted me a price for a room, I made a counter offer and they met me half way. Then they gave me precise directions on how to get there (from the Home depot parking lot). Check in was nice, clerk was friendly. The room was very well equipped, had a king bed with couch, desk and view of the harbor. Had free WiFi. The facilities were nice. Gambling was to be expected. If you don't go expecting to win, you'll have a goo time. I arrived with $200.00 in my pocket expecting to hit the ATM. Didn't need to and left with $160.00. Ate, drank and played for two days on $40.00

Room Tip: Negotiate the room, I got them to knock $15.00 a night off.

We stayed here for six days for a reunion. First thing right off the bat is that there are no clear directions for getting into self park. Most of the grounds around the hotel have seen better days and are not lit and lack signage. Extreme caution needs to be used as well when driving or walking in the garage, drivers do not obey posted speed limit. Checkin for the room was a complete mystery as all of the signs that were above the main desk had checkout shown and none were listed for checkin. Then comes the room. What appears to be nice rooms on first glance, you soon learn are a joke. Windows, can't open them. I guess this is to prevent someone form ending it all after losing big at the poker table. Bathroom had a laundry list of things that needed to be fixed. One big one was the huge piece of glass that was the divider for the shower. It was not connected to the bracket and was a huge potential for falling and breaking. Next the main faucet handle fell off. The chair for the desk had a leg that was missing the foot and the leg would catch on the carpet and tear it. Housekeeping neglected to replace the dirty towels with clean ones. Oh, they took the dirty ones, but never gave us clean ones back. By the time we noticed and tried to get fresh ones, it was too late to send housekeeping up to resolve the situation. Bottom line is if you have an issue, don't plan on getting it resolved after say 3PM.
We than had major problems with smokers in nonsmoking rooms. All night long they were smoking to the point that I had to get up and actually leave the hotel completely to clear out my lungs at 3AM. When we talked to security and tried to get the issue resolved we were told it was after "turn down hours" and there was nothing they could do. When we consulted the housekeeping supervisor she said yes they smoke while standing in the hall all of the time yet management does nothing about it. There is a fine, but what is a 250.00 fine to a gambler who is all ready there to drop 5K on a blackjack table. All of this could have been resolved if security had done their job and made even the slightest attempt to come up and check the situation out. We brought it to the managers attention the next morning and was also met with complete denial of anyway to resolve it.
My advice if you are planning on visiting Atlantic City, don't. It is a complete sh** hole. If you are still planning on coming, without a doubt do not stay at the Golden Butt Nugget. There are other hotels, like the Revel, that have extremely better service and amenities. One last thing, expect to have to pay for everything, from WIFI to printing out your departure boarding passes. It cost me 8 bucks to just do that.
Good luck your going to need it staying here.

Room Tip: If you are still intent on using this hotel, then book early and forget trying to get a nonsmoking r...

The Golden Nugget is a lovely moderately priced hotel in Atlantic City. Note it is located on the Marina side of AC and not on the boardwalk. You can walk to Harrah's from the Golden Nugget and take the Jeetney to other hotels on the Boardwalk for $2.25 per trip. The rooms are clean and inviting (not luxury but nice). The pool and cabanas are great for families with children very trendy. The casino is expansive with new slots and many table games. The buffet is plentiful.
