I chose the Chelsea for my bachelorette party because of the location and also the upscale feel.

I was not disappointed. The service at the hotel was top notch. From the moment you arrive, to the restaurant to check-out.

The rooms were beautifully decorated, complete with all the key amenities - such as a iPod player, and real glasses. The beds were also so very comfortable.

The location is unbeatable. It is right on the boardwalk - right next to the Trop - where we partied the night away. From what I understand they have their own club and nightlife at the Chelsea but we never made it there. I heard great things about it though and we are definitely going to check it out next time.

We had an absolutely fantastic time and we will definitely be staying here the next time we go to AC!

We stayed here for one night and wish we can stay longer. The hotel look just like the website. Very beautiful modern chic hotel. All the staffs are very friendly. This hotel has towel and chair services at the beach. Towel services free of charge. internet also free of charge.
We had breakfast at the Teplitzky’s. Food was amazing. You must visit the 5th floor. the game is great. there is a pool table there and many other fun games. Everything at this hotel is excellence and very clean. Only one thing that bother just a little bit is that it's a little too far from everything else like the Pier. You can always ride on the push cart thingy if you don't want to walk. I walked all the way to the Resort hotel which is like 2 miles. I will definitely come back to this hotel for sure. I have stayed at the Bally's, and The Resort, but I have to say that this is the best hotel I have stayed in Atlantic City.

I had an opportunity to stay at The Chelsea over the weekend, and had a good amount of time to experience the entire property. Here's my list of pros and cons for the hotel. (I go to AC relatively frequently, just to put my review into context).

Pros:
- GREAT renovated room. The hotel, while not incredibly impressive on the outside, provided a wonderful room. The rooms were neo-retro, and very stylistic and CLEAN. The bathroom was also very clean and my room had an edgy standing glass shower. The TV was also nice (HD LCD TV).
- COMFORTABLE bed. The bed was great, and the sheets, again, were CLEAN and new.
-Terrific LOCATION. The hotel was half a block away from the boardwalk, and just a few steps away from the AC Hilton and the Tropicana.
-Great RESTAURANT. I had dinner at the Starr restaurant - Cheslea Prime on the 5th floor. The NY Strip Sirloin was great. My gf is a vegetarian, and the staff was very helpful in creating a veggie dish just for her. The sides were great too and so was the wine.
-Nice AMENETIES. The 5th floor is a "game room" that (aside from the restaurant) included several fireplaces, a nice deck, and also a pool table room (and access to a heated pool). The game room also has board games and is a nice place for the family to gather at night (though the rooms were not well lit, probably for atmosphere purposes)
-CHEAP valet parking. 10 bucks ain't a lot for 24 hour in/out parking.
-Nice and ATTENTIVE staff. Very helpful. From my experience I did not run into any rude staffers, though it may be helpful that I am not rude to them!

Cons:
-My room had an issue with the airconditioning unit. One thing to keep in mind, even though the rooms are redone, the AC units seem to be on the older side, even with the modern climate control features. Everytime the A/C turned out, it sounded like a mechanical explosion that woke me up every 15 minutes. I'm sure not every room is like this, though you might want to check and make sure before you settle in the room that the AC unit is working ok (or bring earplugs to bed)
-Lukewarm shower water during peak hours (of the morning).
-Valet parking is VERY busy during checkout (make sure you alert them early that you want the car before you checkout).

Summary:
Even though the crazy A/C unit is my major individual gripe (and led me to no sleep) - overall I'd definitely recommend this hotel because of its sleek redesign, proximity to key casinos and the boardwalk, the friendly staff, and most importantly - the best bang for the buck in A/C. Honestly, most hotels in AC are either grossly overpriced, and have incredibly dirty rooms - so it was a nice change of pace to visit a hotel there that not only was clean, trendy, but also had a decent restaurant to boot.

  • Liked — Great location, clean and new rooms, good restaurant, good staff
  • Disliked — Bad AC unit in my particular room

Had a great stay. The place has a lot of retro style and panache, even though its only been opened a few months. Great room, super beds, and quiet. It's kind of nice to be staying at a non-casino property. The Trop is right across the street, and the Boardwalk is right there. Had dinner in the steak restaurant. I eat steak at many of the top NYC steak houses and have to say this was one of the best steaks I can ever recall eating. NIce wine list. Waiter was truly professional and a great guy. Very quiet at night. Unlike casinos which can be wild and crazy all night. It's a very pretty property, The health club won't be opening to the end of the month. I got an expedia rate of $79 which was truly mind boggling. Definately the kind of chic place AC needs. I do hope they can ride out the recession and proper. Everyone was friendly (though maybe a little green). If you can get in for a good price, a fantastic place to kick back for a night or two. Recommend without qualification, but you do need to cut them a little slack as a brand new place. Plus a great breakfast spot and bar on premises.

Having grown up on Long Island, I've been away to Atlantic City many times and even as a kid, the sleaziness was a bit off putting. The hotels were always *okay*, but never awesome.

The Chelsea is awesome.

I've been to a fair few regional hotels in the past few years on weekends away because my boyfriend is from out of town. The Chelsea is not only amazing, but I fear probably lost on typical AC clientele. The decor is amazing, straight out of Domino magazine- neo baroque and mod and very luxe. There are so many wonderful little details, like the two white birds kissing in a cage by the door.

The rooms are even cooler. It's like feeling like a grown up princess in a 1930's Hollywood starlet's dressing room. The beds are luxurious and comfortable, the mini-bar is stocked with Hendrick's Gin, Beeman's and Black Jack gum, and the details are all cohesive and so cool. The sizeable shower is part of an all over clean and gorgeous bathroom and stocked with (OMG OMG OMG) Kiehl's and CO Bigelow- impressive because they're lovely and retro, just like the Chelsea.

The staff is very attentive, friendly, and savvy- not the typical "blank stare" staff you encounter elsewhere and conversational and knowledgable. If you manage to leave your room (We gambled a total of $5 measly dollars while we were there because we stayed in our room a lot) the 5th floor has a super cool game room with old Monopoly and Scrabble games and a pool table. We didn't catch the Chelsea Prime and slept through Teplitsky's, but we peeked in and if the food is as good as the decor, it's very promising.

For a new hotel of that magnitude (all the details) I'd expect a little bit of confusion but our stay was mostly seamless. Paying for parking sucks but we didn't use our car in AC anyway so it wasn't a major hassle. I really hope to go back soon and try the things I didn't get a chance to, like the spa and the restaurants.

I would never ever ever stay anywhere in Atlantic City.
