My husband and I wanted a relaxing weekend break in Atlantic City and did we get it!! I chose the Chelsea hotel for two nights based on reviews on the trip advisor website and am I glad I ignored the few negative points made in some reviews.
From the very moment we stepped into the foyer of the hotel the staff were friendly, informative and accommodating. Check in took no time at all and we were soon enjoying the luxury of our room. The bed was comfortable, I loved the bathroom with the euro shower - very stylish. I thought there was no hairdryer at first but soon found one tucked away in the cabinet under the sink. Just something to note as most hotels have them placed on the wall. The room had 37inch flat screen tv and beautiful ocean view. I didn't find the air conditioner noisy at all and found it easy to control.
The location of this hotel is very convenient it's right off the boardwalk from which you can access everything you need - coffee shops, restaurants, casinos etc. They also have a great beach service providing lounge chairs and towels.
We enjoyed ourselves so much that we booked an extra night while there. This is the only point where we found ourselves having a bit of trouble. My husband asked at the front desk about staying an extra night and they provided him with their reservations number but when he called he was told that because we had originally booked with hotels.com we had to book our extra night through them. Luckily for us we had our laptop with us so that made things a little easier.
I would definitley recommend staying in this hotel and I'm making it my destination spot on future trips to AC.

Wow!! what a great experience. Me and my husband chose this hotel after reading reviews on this site. I am so glad we did.
First off when we arrived the valet parking attendant met us right away. He took our info another took our bags and took us to the front desk. The way they handled us was great!!
Then the front desk staff upgraded us to an ocean view upon learning we were there to celebrate our anniversary."Nice nice" Then when we reached the room we were pleased with the set up nice Flat Screen TV only pet peeve is that HBO wasn't working and Sunday nights are for entourage ;] ,
The evening concierge was very nice he brought us a nice hand written card from the entire staff and a nice bottle of champagne to help us celebrate.
The Door man were very informative. The hotel is very close to area casino's and events yet a very secluded heaven away from to much smoke and noise.
The 5th floor was very nice the game room had almost every kind of board and card game in stock as well as a nice pool table we didn't play tho. If you are looking to party and a place where alot of people are hanging out and making noise, getting drunk, smoking and cursing then walk to the Tropicana. This was a more upscale environment and one that I really enjoyed. The pool was very nice and the service was top notch I hope that never changes cause i would love to return again.
Sunday we ordered breakfast in bed. Only thing you should be aware of is that sunday is a very busy day to order room service. even tho they did continue to call and apologize breakfast was ordered at 8:45 delivered at 10am. :[
I loved the fact that housekeeping came twice a day. at first i thought why, then when she knocked early i was sleepy so i said no thank you but when i got up and dressed I wished she was there to clean up and take out the trash but when i returned it was nice to see that the afternoon housekeeper had been there fluffed my pillows and changed those wet towels and dumped the trash i hope more hotels staff to offer this service.
We did walk a lot during our visit. Do make use of the service provided by the hotel if you don't feel like walking. Even tho the hotel was very upscale the surrounding area moving away from the boardwalk Atlantic and pacific st are a little seedy at night but that's all over Atlantic city so there is no escaping but i did notice they were less on our end then by the trump and bally where they were all over.
When we checked out it was quick and easy. The only thing that my husband wasn't ready for was the hidden fees. We were quoted 488.12 when we booked but after all the luxury tax state tax, just because tax we ended up with a 600.00 bill " good thing we had the money"
This is a good hotel. I would go again if the rate was right.

We stayed here for a last minute weekend get away. My husband and I are not big gamblers.

We enjoy a vacation at a beach or pool relaxing - then spending a few hours at the casino at night. Before the Chelsea that was not possible in AC.

This hotel has towel and chair services at the beach. Towel services and a bar near the fifth floor outside pool. We didn't make it to the beach becasue of the weather, but the service at the pool was great.

The fifth floor was fun. There is a big living room a game room and bar.

You felt like you on vacation in maybe South Beach otr the carribean.

On complaint was the front desk did not give you any info when you check in. I didn't know they had bikes for you to use, I didn't know there was a coffee shop, and I didn't know they have their own chair service -- We had to figure this out ourselves. Nothing informing us of these little extras in the room either. Since we were there only a short weekend once we figured it out it was too late to take advantage of it.

The steak house was great. We frequent steak house here in NY and this was comparable except I don't get the fantastic ocean view in NY-- Pricey but not any more pricey than other steak houses.

This non-gaming hotel right on the AC boardwalk was AMAZING - Four Seasons status service, from A to Z. From the valet staff (the only way to park, FYI), to the front desk, to everyone we encountered - they were great. The hotel wasn't too booked, and they automatically upgraded us to an oceanview room. The room was very nice and clean, great comfy bed, plasma TV, Kiehl's products, etc. Very nice. Didn't touch the mini-bar, so no comment there. Did notice there was no hair dryer or ironing board, but given the level of service, they might fly these in if need be. The "coffee shop" next door, Teplitzky's, was very good. Great food and again, amazing service. I would definitely go back!

For the $125 Hotwire rate we paid for a Saturday night at a boarwalk (non-smoky/non-scuzzy/non-casino place) hotel-- this place was great. However, I would have been quite pis#ed off if I would have paid the hotels $350 rate. Its SO not worth that $$!!!

There are still many pieces of the original (including the old A/C heat units-- interior doors, etc.) Ho Jo's and Holiday Inn-- just repainted to make "hip". Nice place, but not the "lux" brand new rooms that you would expect for $350 if you paid that much!!!

Pros:
-Great location, easy walk to many casinos- & on the beach
-Excellent pool area and services around pool
--No casino in hotel
-Non-smoking hotel
-"New" hotel
-Kiehls products in the bathroom (love them!)
-Real glasses (wine, water, etc.) provided in the room
-Very nice staff
-Nice shower

Cons:
-Slllllllllow elevators (only 3 for the tower)
-LOUD A/C unit! (ours was broken when we arrived, but they fixed it very quickly)
-Parking is $15 (although somehow the charge didn't make its way to my bill)
-The coffee shops' (Telepenskys) service was HORRIBLE. The worst. All 7 tables in the area we were in had SERIOUS problems and the manager was involved. It was almost laughable.
-Not as clean as I would have thought for being "brand new"

Again-- I would stay there again for a reasonable price!
