RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO THE TROPICANNA HOTEL AND CASINO and one block to the beach next to dunkin donuts and the 7 eleven the location is great parking on property and for the money I loved being away from the clatter of the casinos. This place is very nice a pub downstairs with pool tables and a relax atmosphere and upstairs rooms they are old but they have a new shower, toilet and vanity the color of the room is like a peach very light and airy feeling to a old place The towels and toiletries were clean and had a fresh smell, the bedding was clean and the furniture light and airy with a carebbean feeling, the carpet was light brown like a burber and the tv had a dvd in it and was placed in a nice amour. For the price on labor day weekend at total with tax 199 it was great considering it was not a regular motel that was running the same price and if I stayed on sunday it was 60 dollars. The best part was that there was a complimentary breakfast in the morning. in a nice old spacious room. The bagles were from DUNKIN DONUTS and there was strawberries and blue berries mixed, peaches, plums, bananas,
cereal, cakes, coffee, tea, orange juice, breads, all served in nice glasses and dishes help yourself style and there was a feta cheese and tomato mix that was great all served untill noon time. the plus was that check out I do not know if it is all the time was 1pm. There was also a little place to have coffee on a little terrace, a small bar old inside if you need some quiet time and the best thing is that it is next to the tropicanna and the beach so if you want to stay in a nice place with a good breakfast and the price is right MOVE OVER TROPICANNA I PERFER THE CHELSEA PUB

This little Inn was quaint and it worked for a one night stay. Its not somewhere I would stay for comfort, but rather for convenience. It was right across from the Tropicana and near the boardwalk. The room was clean. The door to our bathroom did not close properly and we had no control over the temperature but we still enjoyed it. There was also a pub attached to the hotel and it was open all night. I would stay there again if I needed to for a last minute.

The Chelsea Hotel and Pub is a bed and breakfast in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

First the pros:

Location: the location is unreal, literally steps away from the Tropicana on a quiet side street (Morris)

Price: AC can be super expensive but the Chelsea is always affordable. We went for a weekend during a World Series of Poker event and paid $99 for a Friday night and $120 for the Saturday. The cheapest casino was 279/379. Meals and drinks are super affordable too.

Cleanliness: the place is old but spotless. Our room was directly above the kitchen and we had no insects or smells of any kind. The linens were surprisingly white and crisp and the room smelled fresh and clean-not an easy trick in an old building.

Now the bad points:

Age: The building itself is really 2 old Victorian houses put together, and rather haphazardly at that. There wasn't a level floor or plumb wall in the whole place. I thought it was kind of cool but my husband is a fire safety director and he was shocked the whole place hadn't burned down years before. There are wires and cables running the length of the walls and ceiling. The houses are more than 150 years old so what your looking at is a century and a half of other people's good intentions/bad renovations.

Luxury: Or rather lack there of. There are no amenities whatsoever. No minibar, no safe, no decent soap, no phones in the room, and keep dreaming of wifi.

One caveat: I was quoted by the owner a rate of $80 for the Friday and was charged $99 by the employee who checked us in. It was my husband's birthday and we're only talking about $19 so I Iet it go but be aware that changes like that can happen.

If you're a reasonable person with rational expectations you understand that this is clearly a case of you get what you pay for. And considering that the place is safe, clean and pleasantly staffed (the bartender Mike has been there for over 20 years) and less than half the price of any place in AC (including the skeezy motels) it really is a bargain. We intend to go again in the summer.
