“Very nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

El Rodadero has beautiful landscape, perfect weather, amazing beach and very friendly enviroment. The food is very good and every night you can walk by the beach and find "papayera" playing regional vallenato music. People gather together and relax with music and drinks in a very nice and safe atmosfere with affordable prices.
You can eat hot dogs, pizza or regional food nerby. We loved our 4 -day vacation in El Rodadero.
It is better if you speak some Spanish. Foreign turists are welcome but we know some people may take advantage of you. If you buy turistic plans be sure the companys are recommended by a Hotel .

“Lively beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

El Rodadero is a quite modern beach district of Santa Marta with many hotels and restaurants and shops around. The beach is large and long, with soft sand and there is something going on all the time. It is pleasant enough just to stroll around and watch, or sip a drink at some of beachfront restaurants. Especially on week-ends there is plenty of people enjoying sun, drinking rum and having fun.

“A nice popular local beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

It has nice sand, calm water (at the time!), palm trees, open sun shelters, beach front restaurants, parking; it is a very short drive from Santa Marta, where most tourists from out of the country stay.

“It will be hard to leave...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2014

My husband and I have rented an apto in El Rodadero for a bit over a month as part of our seven week visit to Colombia. At first I thought I would be counting the days until we headed home...it is so different from our Costa Rican paradise last year. Now that we have been here a week, I have grown very fond of the people and the place and I now know it will be hard to leave.

The beach is two blocks away. We seldom hear any English...this is a Colombian vacation spot and it is a delight to be in this community. After we come back from the Carnaval in Barranquilla, I will begin going to Santa Marta every day for Spanish lessons. We have been to Taganga and Playa Blanca and will definitely go to Tayrona National Park before we leave but we are quite satisfied with the playa outside our front door (okay, down two blocks) and the life that is the beach life there.

There are dozens of little restaurants, some of which I will review, but we eat mostly in our apto. Two supermarkets nearby. And again, Santa Marta is about 15 minutes (or less) by bus (75 cents) if you want to enjoy a lovely marina and the Parque de Novios with its lively cafes. No need for a car here, which we appreciate.
