4 of us came here to spend 2 nights in the park. We got to the park via cab from santa Marta (70,000 cop) because we were running quite late. At first we were undecided if we should stay at two different locations but we ended up at cabo both nights. The hike was about 1:15 to arrecifes (maybe we are out of shape). Amd then about 45 from there to cabo. We arrived about 4 pm but were still able to get 2 tents. For two of us it was 50,000 cop per night including the tent rental. Tents are not on beach but just off beach. The tents had two thin mattresses for support and I wish I would've brought a sheet to put over them as it grossed me out to sleep right on the mattresses that hundreds have slept and who knows what else on. There are also two sets of hammocks to rent . hammocks up which have a beautiful view right over the water although gets chilly and should bring warm clothes and blanket. Hammocks down are covered and next to tent area. There are also two cabanas above the hammocks up and rumored to be about 175 a night for two people. They were booked when we arrived.
As for food at cabo the restaurant was open for breakfast from 630 - 10 and then lunch from 1230-400 and dinner 630-930. I didn't think the prices were too bad . complete breakfast with arepa toast eggs butter jam tea coffee or hot chocolate was 10,000 cop. There was also breakfast with meat or chicken or fish for 16,000. Fresh juices at juice bar are 5000 and delicious. Lunch and dinner menu are the same with multiple chicken dishes, beef fish, pasta for about 20000 on average. Drinks from convenience store are about 4000 for aquilla and 3000 for water. Towels are also sold for 15000 which was the same we paid at exito.
There were 4 showers which got quite busy just before dinner. Cold water bit adequate the walls between were a bit shirt making naked showers a bit uncomfortable. Bathrooms are a bit gross only 3 with toilet seats bring your own toilet paper .
We took the 4 hour round trip hike to Pueblito including some time to walk around and explore. It was a difficult hike scrabbling up and under rocks. But definitely worth it. Saw monkeys! And a snake The village doesn't have any information or signage describing anything but the hike itself was worth it. Would be nice for more info. Bring lots of water . They sell at top but at double price. Also a small lunch to enjoy once you arrive.
The weather gets windy in afternoon do take advantage of a swim in the morning. We brought snorkel gear but didnt see too much but didnt look too extensively. Beautiful views. Another longer beach a 5 minute hike beyond cabo is nice a less crowded.
Out friends took a horse down due to time constraints and was 32,000 from cabo and takes about an hour. We chose to walk down and check out some other beaches. We stopped at La piscina which was beautiful with crystal clear water and some decent snorkeling. Although we went around the rocks on the right and the current got a bit strong so would be careful.
We then stopped at the bakery panaderia. Which is worth the stop with large homemade baked breads with dulce de leche , chocolate, cheese for 3000 cop. We walked more along the beach on the way back which was quite pretty although there are no signs anywhere to direct you.
We did take the bus from entrance to the beginning of trail for 2000 cop pp which I would recommend. The bus ride from tayrona back to Santa Marta was quite an experience 6000 cop pp and it was standing room only with many people having large amounts of luggage. There are no stops announced so make sure you tell the man who collects the money where you want to get off. The best part was having to duck when going through the tolls so they wouldn't see us standing up.
Would recommend bringing a sheet to pit over the mattress, towel, water for hike up, a few small snacks for between meals or in case you miss lunch a warmer outfit for evenings . toilet paper although also sold at store there. Flashlight or cell phone light at night to go ti bathroom. snorkel mask if you have one . If local would bring your own camping gear for cleaner accommodations.
Great experience ! Definitely recommend !!
