“Great little spot, especially if you are traveling with friends.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

My husband and I traveled to Colombia with another couple, and this was a great, well located spot in Santa Marta. I would recommend this place to anyone, but especially to those traveling with a group that needs 1-2 other rooms. We basically had a private hotel with a little plunge pool for a reasonable price.

Before our friends arrived, we also stayed at La. Casa del Farol (right down the street), which was more expensive. The only reason to choose La Casa del Farol over this place is if you really care about hot water in the shower (rooms are also a little smaller). The water at La Casa was impressively cold. Otherwise, it's a better deal.

I would also agree with other reviewers' comments about the noise at night, although that may be kind of hard to avoid if you stay in central Santa Marta. Breakfast was good, and the staff were all really nice, especially Angela, the owner.

One tip - check out the affiliated restaurant at the Hotel Gourmet Plaza across the street. It's like dining on the set of the Royal Tenenbaums.

If you're going to Santa Marta, this is a good spot. If you plan on heading out to Tayrona from there, I strongly recommend Hotel Merecumbe (that was our favorite spot during 3 weeks of travel).

This is a great little three room B&B in Santa Marta. Good location. Very nice staff. The owner was there for a few of the days we were there and she's fluent in English. Her staff aren't fluent in English but they were incredibly nice and we figured out how to communicate effectively.
The pool is teenie but it's charming. Everything is clean and the AC works very, very well. There was NO HOT WATER in the shower, so I almost gave this a 4 for that reason. We really missed hot showers. However, one day we had to work and the owner brought us snacks and drinks--above and beyond. Wifi didn't really reach past the first room, also a bit noisy at night.

One cannot see how charming this hotel is from the outside. Once your inside though you get a very nice surprise and see how simple and appealing this place is. Also the owners are very nice and speak English. They were very accommodating. I would definitely go back. Also, the food was great.

Room Tip: all rooms are nice but simple

We stayed 2 nights, and I left with the feeling that I could stay much longer. The stadd was very very friendly as the owner. The food was amazing as it is a restaurant, the speciality is pasta and salads. I would love to return one day.

Hospitable, clean, friendly and charming. What more could you ask for in a travel experience? Worth the splurge for budget travelers. This is close to the cute central square of the city.

value for money not good at all. santa marta is really full of nice boutique hotels, definetly cheaper that this one and with the same level of quality and confort. our staying was ok, the breakfast good but the price too high and the photo of the web sites not really 'true' (i.e. the swimming pool is very tiny!).
