My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights during our 10 day vacation in Colombia. In looking through the hostels in Santa Marta something caught my eye about this place and I decided it was where we should stay. We didnt have much interest in Santa Marta itself but were going to Tayrona park and wanted to do a day trip to Minca.
Great location just outside of main Santa Marta a few walking blocks from supermarket and from bus station to take bus to Tayrona and beyond. Cab is about 6-10,000 cop to downtown restaurants.
Staff were friendly and helpful. All spoke great English which was helpful since our Spanish is quite basic. We were able to store our bags for the two days we were at tayrona so we only had to bring a book bag. They helped arrange My friend's transportation back to Cartagena even though they werent staying at the hostel. They have multiple day trips through the hostel that are quite reasonable. We tried to sign up for the day trip to minca which was 35,000 per person not including lunch but they only do it if there are 4 people signed up which there wasnt so the staff helped us arrange on our own. They call cabs for you that are safe and we'll known and pick you up right from your door. Basically the staff are great and helpful.
Other services offered by the hostel include laundry which was especially helpful after 3 days of hiking and camping in tayrona. It costs 6,000 per kilogram (weighed after they were washed ) and was worth it. Different bight time activities. Happy hour at the bar. Breakfast for 8500 pp which includes fresh fruit and breads. Homemade eggs to order pancakes tea and coffee with dry cereal as well . the restaurant they have is quite good I had the lasagna and definitely recommend it !
As for the room, for our first ever hostel experience we went fancy and got the private room with ensuite bathroom air con and tv. It was definitely adequate for about $25 USD pp per night. They supply towels as well. Room was cleaned daily. Overall room was clean and really only used to sleep.
Nice looking pool although did not have time to go in. Awesome hamocks to relax in the beautiful evening temperatures.
Definitely would recommend and return here !
