Just came back from a stay at the Cocoplum and was happy to leave. It needs upgrading. Everything is falling off the walls and the food is awful. Have to say the staff is very friendly, but the place needs a lot of upgrading. After a couple of days, we couldn't take the smell of raw sewage and the pool is so small, it looks like a bathtub. Great location on the beach. Not a place for girlfriends as there are many, many children staying there.

Would not recommend.

In an attempt to find an alternative to the large all-inclusive hotels on the Island, we chose the underdog, the Cocoplum. Let me first say you will not find a kinder, more caring staff on the Island, they really make you feel at home. However I was a bit disappointed by the rooms and grounds of the hotel. They were a bit worn and tattered to say the least. (A bit like the Island itself) The rooms are dated and dingy, but we had a lovely ocean view. The pool was also a bit murky. It almost felt like we staying at a hotel the Griswolds may have stayed at in one of the Vacation movies. The food is awful, but served by a kindhearted and welcoming staff. We at outside the hotel after 1 meal. The hotel helped us arrange a golf cart rental, which was a great way to see the Island. Having the cart also helped us find a beautiful beach where you could rent chairs and eat freshly caught seafood. This is where we spent our entire time on the Island. I am usually very fussy about hotels, but I will give the Cocoplum a pass because it reminded me a bit of the beach places my parents took me to in the 70’s. There were lots of Europeans at the hotel that seemed to be having the time of their lives. If they renovated the rooms and cleaned up the grounds the hotel would be paradise.

i have stayed at this hotel now twice and have found it a very excellent hotel food is basic but you only get what you pay for but is very well prepared the beach has to be the best part of the stay here at cocoplum is very safe for kids but a warning there is sometimes jellyfish i have stayed at other hotels on the island and maybe there is little things that are bettter but the natural sunshades with the palm trees at the cocoplum make it ideal for relaxing, my 2 kids are very fussy eaters and like everything clean and nice but they already asking when are we going back to the cocoplum, i would also recommend only having the breakfast and dinner/lunch because as there is not a lot to do in this part of san andres a night at the small town with a meal maybe is a better option

“Nice beach but don´t stay here”

Cocoplum Beach Resort

The cocoplum bay itself is beautiful, also there are not as many tourists on this beach as in the northern part of the island. The hotel is located on the most traditional part of the island and where you really get an idea of how the locals live. But you can always make the trip by bus (1100 COP) or by taxi (10,000 COP) from the northern part of the island to this beach. That said, I would not recommend staying at the cocoplum hotel. It has terrible service, the food is horrible, and even though the pictures on their website show a very well kept hotel they do not show the smell. We had booked our entire stay at this hotel but could only stand staying here for one night because our room and the entire floor reeked of raw sewage!!!
Plus, it is far from everything and by 8 o´clock you are confined to the hotel unless you are willing to pay a taxi everytime you go out. You can always go out for a walk at night but there are no sidewalks and it gets very dark. It is also more expensive than better kept hotels. If you can stand all this, I would only recommend it if you have small children and don't want to worry about them getting lost because the beach is not crowded or if you want to just sit and relax, but you can also do that at the hotel marazul which is located about half a mile from this one on the same beach because you don't get your money's worth at the cocoplum.

Had the most fantastic break with my family in this beautiful unspoilt place. The setting was wonderful, 12 steps to the swimming pool, 30 steps to a quiet cosy beach. Beautiful sea and beach and a lovely continual breeze an ideal place for couples or a young family or just to chill out, so peaceful.
Staff made you feel very welcome and very much at home.

All of us definitely intend to return. We would highly recommend this superb place.
