“Better than Sol Caribe Centro”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014

We stayed at the Sol Caribe Centro and they have the option to visit this hotel. The food was better than the Caribe Centro and the service was better as well. But it still doesn't have world standards. At the lobby says that is a 4* hotel, but that doesn't reflect the true. The staff was polite and because this resort it's located on a hill, you get to have some nice views of the bay and the island. The Sol complex also have a private beach which I found a plus to another hotels. Expect an average quality hotel, don't get your hopes too high.

I liked the food, the beds were always clean and saw a couple shows with excellent dancers. Most of the staff is nice and try to be helpful but it is evident they have serious administrative issues and the staff is not properly trained.
I got to the room and within an hour my eyes were itchy and my throat soar, there is no ventilation in the rooms, so you smell the humidity and dust.
They moved us to a different room where the smell was not as bad but the shower and phone didnt work, the day after they fixed the shower, they offered to move us to a better room, but we didnt make it to the 3rd because we just gave up!
If you pick this hotel also keep in mind the following: besides the stinky rooms... the doors in the rooms have no locks, if you get one of the rooms in the bottom you will have to go up and down lots of stairs, there is no internet in the rooms, only in the lobby and it doesnt work sometimes, you wont be by the beach, although you can use the hotel's shuttle to the beach.
Bad administrations like the one in this hotel guarantee a bad experience for the tourist. I will stay at a Posada next time.

Booked this hotel for one night because of a discount coupon. I never stay in All Inclusives and this hotel proves why. Awful, uncomfortable and smelly rooms. The food was awful and for it being All Inclusive there was nowhere to even find a drink!

Beautiful view and just have to be thankful we spent less then 24 hours here.

The view is absolutely fantastic, it was organized and clean... But poor privacy, u can hear people snoring, talking, sneezing and even more from the next room. That can wake u up at some point. Wireless doesn't work.

Sad, oversellers, not only failing their costumers, but showing absolutely no interest on them, it is not nice when people lie telling you that the rooms are ready, and making you wait for hours and then to tell you that there are no rooms and that there is nothing they can do for you, these guys really need training in protocols, and service.

Staff in learning process, could be of good potential in the future, but today lack of profesionalism and service attitude, overbooked, manager could not manage the situation, and provide alternatives, reservations where not respected,
simply had to go out and find another hotel same day.

Caution: Taxi drivers are very agressive and pushy, no control of fee's nor condition of vehicles, drivers would arbitrary charge 50% more for same route, and reason was nobody else can give you the service and this is what I charge. :-(

Simply was not the best experience, take your precations if considering visiting San Andres and this Hotel.

Although view is beautiful.

Looking at some of the reviews of the place, I'm tempted to think that because so many have five stars or one star, the owner and his sworn enemy are writing them all. While you'd have to be mentally ill, or have spent your life living in a drawer to think this place worthy of five stars, I don't think giving it one star is fair either. Surely one star is for those hotels where you find such things as the staff napping in your bed and livestock in the bathroom. I visited Sol Caribe Campo on a package tour to San Andres from Lima, including flights, transfers, food and drink all included, etc,and paid about $650 for five days and four nights. I wouldn't normally have chosen a hotel like this, but on the whole it didn't seem bad value. The hotel itself has seen better days and is a little rough around the edges. For examples, the bathroom showers are so weak that it's like being urinated on by a small dog, and then there's the soundproofing which is so bad, that you need to pray you've got quiet neighbours. The beach is also not immediately nearby. You have to catch a shuttle bus that leaves every half hour. Funnily enough, this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The all inclusive food and drink is largely a plus, as there are few restaurants nearby and taxis into town are expensive. The buffet food is roughly what I expected, edible, but a bit like the staff canteen, although there are some nice touches, like the women who makes fresh pasta dishes in the Italian restaurant. To try and be balanced about Sol Caribe Campo, I think your enjoyment of this place will largely depend on two things, firstly your expectations and secondly the price you paid. If you want luxury, forget it. If you're happy with a cheap and cheerful beach holiday in the middle of winter, then it does the job. However, don't pay the list prices. They're not worth it. If I had paid the price listed on the website and not come as part of a package, I might also have been tempted to give the place one star.
