We've done all sorts of travel, from bucket shower hostels with roaches to staying at Le Fountain Bleu (5 star resort) in Miami and this is the best place we've ever experienced. I was doubtful of the five star rating upon making our reservation, but it unabashedly deserves the highest rating. First will start with that we don't speak Spanish, at all. We used a translator app to email for our reservation the night before and got an instant response, in Spanish because no one speaks English at the Villa, which we knew. After making reservations, we were informed to "take a bus to Marsella but only pay for tickets to Combia and get off at the bodega in Combia where we would be picked up." This is probably a very easy task for Spanish speaking people but as we are not, it ended up being difficult. Easy enough to get tickets to Combia (4,000 pesos for two people) via Marsella, but once on the bus we had no clue when to get off. It was dark, rainy and we were driving in the country. We asked some people if they could tell us when to get off, but things were a bit misunderstood and we ended up getting off at Combia (looks like a small town with a big supermarket on the right and a mini market on the left). So we ended up paying a guy 6,000 cop to drive us to the bodega (there are big signs on the right for villa Martha as you near the bodega) ( very sketchy at the time with us not speaking Spanish, night time, in the country, in colombia) BUT it all worked out as this nice man knew Rafael (we made sure to write names, numbers and directions down) and we found him waiting for us at the bodega. Once we checked in, we were promptly shown our room, offered beer, coffee and water and a massive delicious home cooked meal. Now on to the place, it is AMAZiNG! The perfect middle between five star remote resort and home. You feel like you're at the wealthy uncles home in the country side. Pool, hotub, private baths, comfortable beds and service that is beyond this world. I'm huge into atmosphere and this place has charm, cleanliness, natural beauty and serenity. We love dogs, so we made instant friends. You get two huge meals a day that are the best food we've eaten in colombia. You also seem to get an endless supply of coffee and water and we had a few beers. This is the perfect getaway for a couple, good friends or a family reunion. We're already working on getting our family here for the next vacation. There are games and a soccer pitch, and the country side is an inviting walk (we took the dogs). It is also nice to feel 100% safe and kinda feels like you're at home (even if you don't speak Spanish). The coffee is obviously very good (we're coffee snobs from Portland Or so we know). We also got a little lesson on how it's made (in Spanish). There are towels, bath soap, private baths, pool, hotub, hammocks, games outside entertaining areas, outdoor shower and changing rooms, soccer pitch, parking and cable tv and wifi. We're over staying at hostels with the 20 something party goers but don't like the stuffiness of resorts or swank hotels, this is the perfect place. There is also something wonderful about Martha and Rafael. They were incredibly kind and patient with our complete lack of understanding. My only regret is that I wish my husband or I spoke Spanish so we could converse with them and learn all about them. I'm sure that if there is something you need, they can make it happen. This place is worth every penny and is the best money we ever spent on a hotel. Enjoy you're restful and great stay at villa Martha. Staying here allowed us to feel the most rested we've felt in 4 years.
They are all great depending how many are in your party.
