“SHAME ON YOU YOU HOTEL PLAZA ROSA MEDELLIN”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

This Hotel is DISAPPOINTING. Dishonest Services at Front Desk and Staff . I had to stay in Medellin for 6 days and my family unfortunately chose Hotel Plaza Rosa. I had some issues with the personal from the hotel. I leave them with a blank voucher from my creditcard and after 3 days there are telling me I have to pay because the management tell them I have to pay right away. Besides, I couldn't understand some strange hotel policies.
Despite the good location, there's nothing else there that I would recommend. The hotel staff said they were "renovating" the rooms. Well... I was not prepared to the constant noise of construction during my entire stay. But the hotel is noisy anyway. There's a busy road in front of it. And, of course, Internet access is poor. Very disappointed! Poor breakfast
LA EXPERENCIA FUE MALISIMA !!!

I had to stay in Medellin for 14 days and my company unfortunately chose Hotel Plaza Rosa. Despite the good location, there's nothing else there that I would recommend. The hotel staff said they were "renovating" the rooms. Well... I was not prepared to the constant noise of construction during my entire stay. But the hotel is noisy anyway. There's a busy road in front of it. And, of course, I'll never forget the restaurant placed right below my window with mariachis (band) playing until very late. Internet access is poor and the towels and blankets all seem very old.

This is an office suites building converted to a hotel. The hotel staff is all learning and constantly struggling to keep up. Every interaction with the reception is atleast 30 minutes. They copied every page in my passport, 60 of them, using a cheap 50 USD printer before they got to giving me a room. At 09:00 pm after a 6 hour flight the wait was not very welcome. Forgot key in room - queue 30 minutes. Want a room change - queue 30 minutes. No irons in room - only hotel laundry service - 20 USD for a suit which also came back as wrinkled as it went. Shower is either too hot or too cold - nothing in between and you will be standing in your own soapy waste by them time you finish showering - thanks to the floor slope. Internet wifi rarely works - was down 1 day in my 2 day stay. Rooms suck - skirting in all rooms was ripped apart in the name of ongoing remodeling. Mattresses are cheap and towels had holes in them. There is NO CENTRAL AC - window air conditioners which are over 10 years old - remember to carry your ear plugs if you want to get some sleep. Windows serve little purpose - if you feel happy they gave you a room with a road view, think again because the traffic noise is going to wake you up at 5:30 am (Colombians start their day early). No gym either.
So what was good? The novice staff tries to help if you are patient with them. Location is walking distance from the party neighborhood of Parque Lleras - a must go place. All in all, if you are a casual tourist on a budget, this could be on your list if you don't have any other choice. All others, look elsewhere. An absolute NO for the business traveller.

Room Tip: Rooms on the inside are quieter but you will miss having a window. Remember the hotel has no gym and...

Very disappointed!
Pros:
- location
- breakfast

Cons:
- worst Internet ever
- old decoration and room
- cold water in the morning (given the high occupancy)
- noisy neighborhood (depending on the face of room)
- cleaning service knocked and entered our room at 7:30am while we were still sleeping

The hotel was under works, but rather than execute the work per floor, they were doing so in several floors. At the end, the look of halls and rooms were very poor. One of our friends had her room smelling fresh paint.

Great location, Lots of places to walk to eat and drink. Taxi and bus are no problem if you don’t want to walk.

Good TV and channel selection. Decent wi-fi.

The streets and whole area are pretty noisy all day and night so if you want a quiet sleep, might be pretty hard.

The breakfast buffet is good and something for everybody.

The people at the front desk are very nice, very helpful. Some speak English.

A special thanks to Gustavo! We left some clothes in a nearby tailor and not realizing mother’s day is a holiday, they were closed and we were leaving that night. Gustavo helped us by picking up the clothes and mailing for us. Muchas gracias Gustavo!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room

Stayed at this hotel the week of 1/21/13. For the price paid, this was a terrible deal. The facilities are worn down and they charged an extra night to my co-worker. Everytime we call to get the extra night refunded they come up with a different answer. Now they are saying he left at 4pm when in reality we left at 8am. Not worth the hassle.

On my previous visits to Medellin, I stayed at the Royal Medellin Hotel, but this time the local coordinator selected the Plaza Rosa Hotel to conduct our venue, so I stayed there for 7 nights.

As already pointed out by other reviewers, the hotel is conveniently located near the zona rosa of Medellin (just a short walk from the hotel), where all the night life is. The area is pretty safe and not far from several mayor shopping malls (yet, to take a taxi is recommended)

Over all, the hotel was clean, the room I got was quite big with the basic amenities (safe-box, free Wi-Fi, mini-bar, etc.) and a huge window with a very beautiful view…. however I've had found the bed mattress quite uncomfortable.

The hotel has a small spa and sauna (humid room), but in my opinion is lacking of any basic gym equipment, so there is no way of exercising while there.

The staff was pleasant, but for whatever reason, all the time they failed to deliver the messages and notes left for us at the front desk.

Breakfasts (as well as other meals) were served on the patio…. a nice and close surrounding landscaped garden which gives a very nice atmosphere to the place.

Though not the most modern hotel and definitely a little bit outdated, the hotel offers a pretty decent option for those looking for the bear basics and a good location.
