“Very Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2014

I liked this hotel. It was in a very good location regarding access to public transportation and to some of the major attractions of the Feria de las Flores and the city's. This was my first trip to Colombia. The hotel staff made me feel welcomed . The beautiful ladies at the front desk always helped out. Their kitchen staff are extraordinary. Always talkative and giving tips on places to visit, specially the lady who was there during breakfast, or to teach you about country's gastronomy, especially the gentleman during dinner. The price is very accessible , the amenities are good also, the rooms are very comfortable. Luckily i had a view oh the street view and could see a good scenery. The bar is a good place to relax and enjoy a few drinks. Breakfast was good. Offered a basic variety of food. As for lunch/dinner, that was a little better, different types of meat and more sides. But food was a little above average. Just a little tip, having a gym or a pool might help a little bit. I learned different meaning of words that i usually use. Example, I had a voice in the room phone and was told to press "numeral". In mexico we either call it "gato" or in the USA "pound/hashtag". The distance to the hotel is decent, at least to or from Jose Maria Cordova(30 min. approx.) and very close to Enrique Olaya Herrera. Over all i felt very comfortable and restful. God willing for next year's Feria i would stay again at Ibis. Again to all at Ibis....Thank you. Todos son un gran equipo. And to all the ladies that work there...Todas son muy guapas. Your hospitality is as great as the hospitality of the country

This is the third time I have stayed in Hotel Ibis for business and the customer service (hospitality) is always amazing. Karen and Alexandra at the front desk were a delight and made me feel right at home from the get go. Karen also saved and packaged my charger that I left in the Hotel during my checkout. The rooms are very comfortable, sometimes a tad small, but very clean with all the comforts. The lounge is a great place to have a beer and a whisky while chatting among friends. The lounge/lobby is merged so I am not sure which is which but because of the architecture you hardly notice. The prices were very reasonable and the location great. Yet, the breakfast leaves something to be desired. The breakfast in the morning is not bad but certainly is nothing exceptional. This Hotel is by far the best you can get for your money and the hospitality sets apart from the rest. I highly recommend this hotel to others for your visits to Medellín.

Room Tip: Make sure you do not get a handicap room if you are not suffering from a handicap. If wifi is a must...

This hotel is near a Mall. In order to get around the city one has to take a taxi, and their service is outstanding. The bulk of its clientele are business persons so you will see several suits and ties. The business center is ample and it has more than one station. There is a reception area where you can entertain friends or acquaintances. Some of its personnel are bi-lingual, and they will be readily available to lend their professional assistance. --If you pay with a credit card or in dollars do not expect to get dollars back or redeem your money in dollars to the credit card. They will give you back Colombian pesos.

Room Tip: The higher the better view of the city. --I did not use the A/C until the day before my departure be...

My husband and I chose the Ibis Hotel in Barrio Colombia for the convenience of its location and price. We stayed 2 nights at the beginning of our trip and another 2 at the end. If you're looking for a centrally located hotel that is perfectly situated between the tourist attractions of the historical Centro and the high end shopping, clubs and food area of El Poblado and are planning to use the metro, bus and feet as your primarily mode of transportation, this no frills hotel is a great choice. This 13 +/- floor hotel seems to cater primarily to business travelers and has a great buffet breakfast every morning and a general quick/easy checkin/out process. There are lots of restaurant choices in the square right outside the door and there is a nice little mall a short walk from the hotel (on the way to the metro stop Industriales). The area is very safe and a 20 min walk to Parque Lleras in El Poblado, the walk takes you through a bit of the industrial area that mixes with commercial centers in this part of town, as well as past some mid-upper income residential sections, furniture boutiques and restaurants.

The room we stayed in was a $65-90 per night double rooms and was VERY BASIC. A set of two bath towels and a bath mat, no toiletries except a hand pump wall-mounted soap in the shower and no fridge. There was, however, a wall-mounted hair dryer & a safe should you need either. Bed was comfortable, nice pillows - however, there is no top sheet on the bed, only a sheet on the mattress and comforter with a duvet cover. I think a lot of these decisions are based on a cost savings model, this hotel is all about efficiency to keep the room prices low for accommodations in this up & coming business sector in the city. We would compare this hotel to something like a Super 8 Motel in the U.S. - affordable, reliable, clean, and no frills or gimmicks.

The front desk staff is friendly and though they don't seem accustomed to tourists staying here, they were helpful with our inquiries. My husband and I both speak Spanish fluently, and though i didn't see any English-speaking tourists, I did hear one of the guest services personnel speaking to a businessman in English.

They are very responsive to emails and upon request provided timely instructions on how to get from the airport to the hotel (bus & taxi options are available). I'm not sure how well they staff the phone reception at night. I tried calling on Thursday night from our room for about 30 min and no one answered. A Medellín friend was also trying to reach me in my room earlier that night and no one answered the main number for the hotel. Perhaps they were busy with checkins, but it's a detail management may wish to note. When i had difficulty calling an external number from my room phone I had to go down to the desk and they were very helpful and placed the call for me for which I was very grateful. Calls cannot be made from the phone in the room without opening the line in reception with a credit card. For those of us traveling without cell coverage on our phones or wishing to avoid the ridiculous international rates, we depend on these old fashioned landlines. It's great when staff accommodates these types of issues for their guests. When we return to Medellín this will likely be our first choice for convenience and price.

It's a nice, clean hotel in a nice spot, near Barrio Colombia. Good to hangout in the weekend. 10 minutes away from Park Gerald (Poblado). The only down side is that the key (card) would erase, and I had to go to the lobby for them to program it.

This was our first experience with accor. We arrived Friday evening which was very busy. Our check in was handled quickly and efficiently. Karen checked us in. She speaks excellent English so that was nice. We had not eaten so we sat at the bar and had a sampler and the local beer. Our room was with 2 single beds pushed together and that was plenty of room. The general manager explained to me that this is a European style hotel. That explains the size of the room. It is tight yet efficient. It does the job of a clean, comfortable place to sleep after sight seeing all day. It is very conveniently located. Close to Poblado, envadigo, Laurles, the metro etc. We had the breakfast one day at the Ibis and opted to have breakfast across the street the rest of the week. Quiet rooms. The staff is amazing. They like all Piasas are very accommodating and helpful. They helped with a dinner reservation, taxi, bus and metro directions. I can not say enough about their service and customer service. We felt like family. The price is right for the product. The money we saved not staying in Poblado we used for transportation and fine dining. I would definitely go back and look forward to staying in other accor hotels. A big shout out to Alexandra, Erica and Karen who took care of us and treated us like we were visiting family.
