This is the only bad hotel I've stayed in in Medellin. It's impossible to work or read because they play horrible pop music in all the communal areas (seriously, who has their mood uplifted by being forced to listen to ``We built this city on rock and roll''?) It has a disco or something that goes until about 2am at weekends, murdering sleep as effectively as Macbeth ever did. My room smelt weird. The breakfast eggs only come with ham. Too bad if you're vegetarian, Muslim, Jewish or someone who dislikes ham. Surly brutes at reception. They refuse to give you your room key, because the rules of the hotel say that the bellboy has to show you to your room. And if he's gone AWOL because he suddenly got an idea for a poem, or is taking a dump, you're expected to stand there like a lemon until he shows up.
