I love this hostel, explaining why I've been here for nearly 6 months. Not many people can 'admit' to staying in one hostel for so long, but not many people can find a hostel that they can call home either, but here it's been homely.
What I love are the things like the 24hr TV/Movie room that is the perfect place to chill when you're struggling to sleep or just plain bored, and it's really social too. The satellite has all the sports channels you'd need, and a massive selection of films on a neat little hard drive. The only problem is picking from the 200 plus movies/tv series/documentaries on it. I've seen people literally camped in there for days watching tv. Another plus for the Pit Stop too is the people you meet in this hostel. I've met some awesome, excitable, interesting and freaked-out characters whilst I've been here. It's been exciting for sure !
The hostel bar is great, has good music, wicked pool table, darts, massive TV for sports and even a steam room (seriously). Many locals come into the bar, and some lovely local girls too. There have been many random nights in there. On Fridays the hostel owner (Paul) DJs at an electronic night on a roof terrace bar just up the road in Zona Rosa (the main bar area) which is probably going to be the best music you'll find in the area, due to the abundance of reggaeton & salsa.
The hostel has great facilities inc. free wi-fi through-out (it wasn't working great last month, but it's back to better than before since new 'gadget stuff' was installed). It's got a good spacious kitchen (FREE COFFEE ALL DAY) and there is a massive supermarket 6 mins walk from here too. You have hammocks out by the swimming pool, covered from the shade/rain. Table tennis, volleyball court, basketball/5 a side football court. You'll get a great laundry service, sign up for the official Escobar tour, book bus tickets and so on. They also have all the paperwork, bank slips required should you be needing to extend your immigration visa !
All in all, this hostel is awesome. I've met so many amazing people here and shared some wicked nights too. Also the hostel dog (Lola) is the best hostel dog ever. She's so friendly and chilled, though a little fat but with enough walking she'll be great ! There are other little plus points such as off road parking, cheap restaurant just 30 seconds down the road.
So yeah, stay here and have a fantastic stay. It's a really welcoming place, the staff are friendly and helpful. The only problem is trying to leave ha ha ha, I will one day ;-). Enjoy your stay x
The Tony Montanta 10 bed dorm is in the corner of the hostel and quieter. It also has probably the c...
