“Great location and staff, didn't love the room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014

Very pleasant hotel. I was a bit annoyed that they switched our room right before we checked in and put my friend and I in a room with a King size bed and a rollaway. The rollaway was not comfortable - and we had specifically asked for a room with 2 full beds when we made the reservation. The shower had no door or curtain which was a bit awkward for 2 friends traveling together. Neither points being the end of the world but annoying at a $200/night price point. (Oh, and the wall- hair dryer cut off if you tried to use it on any setting other than low). Breakfasts were amazing. Staff very nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay but might look elsewhere when I return to Cartagena.

Every employee was as pleasant and helpful as any staff you will find anywhere. A warm, well-trained group oversees this eight-room boutique hotel, centrally located in the old wall city.

Top floor deck lacks a view.mSecond floor pool is of plunge pool dimensions. There is no elevator. Breakfast options in an open air but covered area adjacent to a first floor garden include several different egg dishes, every day with a bowl of fruit and a different fruit juice; hot or cold cereal and different bread options. First floor also has a large well furnished lounge/library with books, magazines and desk top computer.

I killed two whopper cockroaches and a large centipede, but that's South America.....our room (#7) was actually very clean, well cared for and nicely furnished with good air conditioning and ceiling fan, also a very large tub with rainforest style shower head. Water pressure was weak and wifi signal inconsistent. There is a minibar and television. Also a hair dryer.

There is construction across the street in three buildings and on each side of the hotel, but that is causing no problems for guests now and will make this well located street also one of the prettiest when all the work is done. Right now it is not as pretty as many other streets in the walled city.

I would be excited to stay here again, although there are so many other nice lodging options within the old city I believe you could visit 20 times, stay at a different place each time and never be disappointed. Elfiz is a great choice in a great town.

Room Tip: Second Floor will be away from breakfast area. Room 7 is away from the small pool, and is large wit...

We are staying in a "junior suite" which has the living room and bath down stairs, with a large loft bedroom above. This is inconvenient, if not dangerous, for getting up to pee at night. But otherwise it is a wonderful place. The mattress is very good; the sheets soft, pressed with a zillion threads to the inch; great pillows. The food is very good. Manuel tells us all about the exotic fruit juices we have each morning and shows us photos of the fruits and trees on his phone. Every detail in this beautiful hotel seems to have been chosen by someone who understands what travelers want and need. There is an atmospheric library with Gabriel Garcia Marquez books in several languages. One Hundred Years of Solitude makes more sense from here. The furnishings are Spanish Colonial style; the floors are polished hardwoods. Could go on and on. Stay here if you can.

A delightful unique small boutique hotel within the walled city. It has all the charm of the old city with very well keep rooms. It's location is in a quiet street that is very close to the main attractions. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and it offered a delicious breakfast. The price range was absolutely worth the stay..

We spent four nights and enjoyed Cartagena amazed how clean the old city is kept.
The hotel staff are wonderful and very attentive, great cooked breakfast , with fresh fruit & juice .
The Hotel building was first built in early 1700 and has interesting history remolded to the Boutique
hotel about 7 years ago .
Alfiz. has kept the historic feeling with the decor & colonial furniture.
We had a room on the front yes no real view but it was bright got the morning sun & had plants on the deck. After a long day walking around it was enjoyable to come back and enjoy the mini size dipping pool.
Excellant location & once again excellant staff.

Room Tip: All rooms on line we had the Viceroy room # 7

Front desk very helpful to organize outings. Classy recommendations for fun excursions. Room a bit beat up for a suite. Balcony overlooked nothing. Still, a nice place located near attractions. Wifi spotty, I may go back. Breakfast was well prepared and the highlight of my stay.
