“Nice stop on our tour”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

We went to the Cathedral de San Pedro Claver as part of our walking tour of the old city of Cartagena. It was pretty and interesting, but I probably wouldn't have gone there if it hadn't been part of an organized tour. There were some very pretty stained glass windows in the dome. San Pedro Claver who the Cathedral is named after is entombed there. He was designated as a saint and they told us that his femur had been taken to the Vatican in honor of that. I'm always a little uncomfortable visiting a church building as a tourist--it doesn't seem quite right. But it was an enjoyable place to see.

“Worth popping in on your stroll through El Centro”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

I had never heard the story of this saint, and found it interesting that he ministered to the slaves and lepers in the early colonial times. I really think his story has much more gravitas and color than the site lends to it. I mean, this Jesuit had to stand up to the wealthy patrons of his church to extend the kindnesses he did, which was fraught with drama and intrigue. It deserves a better telling than the 2 dimensional portrayal he gets in this church - but what a beautiful building and what a legacy!

“Beautiful colonial cathedral,”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Beautiful inside, old colonial arquitecture. It has a very unique lush garden on one side that can be visited until 5:30 pm. Peaceful and cool to spend some quiet time.

“Lovely Church but NOT Open”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

I love traveling to see old hurches. This is a prominent church inthe walled city and was not open every day I went to see it. This being a tourist area, it should be open to the people,
