The Agua is not a B&B. It is a very stylish, beautiful boutique hotel in a stunning colonnial house. I believe it was one of the first boutique hotels in Cartagena and with few rooms it doesn't have to fight for custom....which is its main problem. It is far too expensive. Having come in from much cheaper Bogota, Cartagena knows the Americans are spending and if you want to stay within the lovely old town there are few other comparable places to stay.....but things are changing and a fair few other beautiful buildings have been restored and are now great boutique hotels. The staff at the Agua are really fabulous, breakfast under the white, palmed arches starts any day as special and the resident labrador appeals to any Brit!...the place is so tranquil with a stunning pool/ roof terrace but the feeling of being fleeced really spoilt it.....a small bottle of water (& you need lots in the heat of the day) sets you back $1.50...which goes a long way in Colombia. If you are thinking of visiting their new sister hotel on Baru Island.....see my review of that.
