“Idyllic, authentic, perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

This is old-school charm and design, with authentic hospitality and friendliness. Bar none, best value for your money, phenomenal location, and chill to the max! Good solid breakfast, coffee all day, happy hour drinks on the house, rooftop dipping pool, privacy, comfort. Within 15 minute walking distance to anything and anywhere you want to be. It's nothing fancy, but you won't miss fancy in a place like this!

Room Tip: Rooms higher up on top floors, are quieter, but a bit more walking.

We had 10 days at Casa La Fe, so know it as well as anyone. It is a friendly place, somewhat sleepy place, with fairly knowledgeable staff, excellent housekeeping, a lovely courtyard eating area, and in a great location for walking around the old town. We enjoyed our third floor room with a balcony, where we often sat to relax in the afternoon, listening to all the (sometimes amusingly boisterous) chatter down in the plaza. The room, bed, and bathroom were all good, and the soundproofing of walls and windows pretty good. They did have problems for a couple of days with the wi-fi being out of commission, and also one day with water problems. (Cartagena has one foot in the modern world, but still one foot in the slightly unpredictable old world.) The rooftop swimming pool is very, very small (not much bigger than a hot tub), and we only went there once. The breakfast is limited and the same every day (eggs to order and arepas), though the tropical fruit juice offerings change daily with availability. The wine and beer offerings at the daily happy hour are quite limited. Recommended overall.

Room Tip: Third floor balcony!

Thanks for the review. The client comments on limited offerings at happy hour but fails to mention that the first beer or wine is complimentary and subsequent drinks are charged at cost - there is no other spot in Cartagena where a glass of wine can be enjoyed for just US$2.

We had a hard time deciding where we were going to stay in Cartagena. There was so many nice choices. We we referred to Casa La Fe by Casa Deco in Bogota.

It was a great pick. The first room we stayed in was a bit small as we needed twin beds. But we moved to a deluxe room overlooking the park and it was amazing.

The hotel is extremely meticulously decorated. I was really amazed that it seemed every corner, there was different pieces of Columbian art. The staff is very accommodating and pleasant. Barbara at the desk was extremely helpful in answering any questions we had.

I also liked the location across the street from a local park. The area always felt very lively.
Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: I loved the deluxe room overlooking the park on third floor.

The hotel is central, the employees are very kind and the breakfast is very good. We stayed in a room with a balcony, which we highly recommend. During the evening, the hotel offers the guests a free drink (wine or beer). We would definetly stay there again.

My friend and I booked last minute at this little hotel. We had never been to Cartagena. It was exactly what we were looking for; old world charm with modern amenities. Breakfast was included and pretty satisfying, it was served in a beautiful courtyard. The best part was Barbara on the front desk, she was so helpful and knowledgeable. This place is a real gem. Internet strength is a little spotty.

We stayed one night in this lovely, friendly hotel, but wish we had stayed longer.

The room was lovely and well equipped, and we particularly enjoyed the plunge pool on the roof.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and also spoke English. Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed a free drink in the evening during Happy Hour.

Room Tip: The rooms on the front have a balcony overlooking the square (great view, but can be a bit noisy).
