“Superb charm!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

Markus is a pleasant person...and makes of this B&B a world in itself! The decoration...the details, the books...maps, old decorations...Every room becomes an experience and probably the stories he might tell will make of "las noches de Cartagena" a wonderful experience.
We are also grateful for Markus' help and hospitality!
The breakfast was good and served with care.
To improve the stay a more open "public" area different to the kitchen-dinner table would be recommendable.

We wanted to stay in a pleasant place where, on top of enjoying the town, we could work with our laptops during two weeks. We were stimulated to chose this place because of the other positive reviews about the niceness of the rooms, and also because we were assured by the owner we would have a good wi-fi and enjoy the view of the bedroom facing the internal patio. But our experience ended up being very different from what we expected. The noise of the old air-conditioning system did not allow us to sleep, so we had to turn it off and endure the first of a sequence of sweaty nights. Also Wi-fi signal was poor. But all that and other details (like not providing shampoo or drinkable water in the room) can be fixed if the owners eventually. On the other hand, something that will be extremely difficult to improve is the fact that the whole place in clumped and feels very small, as they keep building accommodations in what used to be the patio, leaving just small and badly ventilated common areas and accommodations with poor light and no privacy. The construction of some spaces in the roof for a common Jacuzzi and solarium was a clever idea, but still, those are very small (and being in a still non remarkable residential part of the town, the views are not great from there anyway). We thought that all this was a consequence of us aiming for a budget accommodation in an expensive touristic town but, as we later found out, we could have got much nicer places in the charming streets of the walled city for the same cost.

It is a nice little place, with very friendly and helpful people. The breakfast was prepared with love. We enjoyed it very much when Mildres prepared it! Our room was nice and clean, but incredibly small. The window looked into an aisle and not much daylight came in our room. For the size of the room, the price of 115 USD (double occupany weekend rate and 105 USD week days) was simply too high.

5 Stars! This place is an charming little B&B in the charming and safe area of Getsemani with clean rooms, great breakfast with convenient times, with the best fruit juices ever (ask for 'lulo') and a very nice "staff"! I really enjoyed my stay, even was upgraded the last night for free. Everything is in walking distance and Marcus is a very friendly and helpful host! Enjoy your stay in a special place and a wonderful city!

I absolutely loved Les Lezards. Marcus and his staff are so friendly and accomodating, the breakfast was absolutely delicious every morning. The room was beautiful and I didn't want to leave. I don't agree with the 3 star review left here. Cartagena is expensive and I think that Les Lezards offers excellent value for money. Highly recommend for a romantic stay in Cartagena!

This lovely little bed and breakfast was our home from home for the week leading up to our sons wedding in Cartagena Cathedral. The owner Marcus was very helpful and attentive, he suggested lots of great places to eat, we all particularly liked "El Boliche" which was a very short walk away. Manuela and the rest of ladies who looked after us were delightful, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were all individual in their decor and felt "artsy" and a little bohemian, exactly to our taste.
Les Lezards is situated in the district of Getsemani, a very short walk to the walled part of the old city. We always walked there and always felt very safe.
The Colombian people in general and the locals in particular we found to be friendly and warm and always keen to engage you and practice their English.
We came away feeling we had spent a week in a very special place, I would recommend this place to anyone seeking a more authentic experience than that afforded in the usual modern hotel,. We LOVED it!
