My girlfriend and I recently stayed in this hotel for over a week and our overall feeling on the hotel was one of disappointment.
The positives were 1) Great location, could not be better really 2) Nice swimming pool and no issue getting chairs 3) Staff were generally friendly and at least tried to be helpful but the language barrier made it difficult for us.
The negatives were 1) The manager (who was the only English speaking member of staff) was not in any way friendly or helpful. He gave us a 30 second introduction to the hotel, no explanations re breakfast, how to work the safe or cable or provide the internet password 2) The breakfast was very average and usually took the best part of an hour to serve, have had better in most cheap hostels I have stayed in and we ended up skipping it for at least 4 days 3) The internet was down and the tv did not work for 4 days of our stay. When I tried to complain I was told there was an internet cafe nearby. From what I could tell no effort was made to fix this and the staff in general were not overly concerned with this 4) They tried to close the pool for a couple of days for no apparent reason (I ignored this and proceeded to use the pool) 5) There was a large gap in our bathroom ceiling so you could hear everything going on in the bathroom upstairs and vice-versa (not ideal for either party involved).
The language barrier was a huge problem for us as the staff never seemed to understand that we didn't speak Spanish! (but it is Colombia so no real issue with this) but for the price we paid I think the problems I have set out above are not acceptable. Didn't spoil the holiday by any means but was expecting more having read earlier reviews.
