“Very touristic”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

Good to go and spend 20 min max watching the Vallenato baskers going around the tables.Quality of food is cheap and no colombian.Made purely for tourists/gringos.
Also you cannot chill as literally every minutes you get another basker hasling you or other vendors.
Nice to walk during the days and early evening. You will capture a few good pictures.

“great history and beautiful church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Get the audio guided tour. Much history inside. nice to hear about activist priests that worked with both Indians and slaves. Sad history about all the invasions, disease and pain.

“Very nice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

It is the oldest church in the city of Cartagena. it is located in the Santo Domingo plaza (my favorite!) There always something going on there at all times.
You can take a church tour in several languages for like 5 dollars. It is OK, but I recommend the one at Cartagena's main cathedral better.

“A History of Cartagena in Twelve Easy Stations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

While the structure itself is breathtaking, it was the audio tour that really made it a not-to-be-missed experience. Placards set up in different locations throughout the church tell the history of the Dominican friars who came to Cartagena and defended the Indigenous people from Spanish oppression among other historical highlights.
