“Good comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014 via mobile

Nice hostel, was quiet during my 3 day stay. Good sturdy beds with large lockers at the head of the bed which I personally liked. Beds also had a curtain which gave your own space. Air conditioning was a welcome luxury in the heat of Cartagena. Overall good stay and staff went out of their way to help in any way they could!

I had heard great things about Casa Nativa, but was disappointed with my stay there. The hostel was dirty and cluttered, which could have been easily addressed by the cleaning staff they had there each day. The rooms were fine and the lockers were a good addition. The hostel was also expensive compared to others I had stayed at, but the premium for staying in the old city was probably worth it.

-Privacy curtains on the mixed dorm beds are great.
-Bathrooms and showers are separate and moderately clean.
-The a/c at night was good.
-The common areas are small and often occupied by sleeping staff.
-The owner arranged a boat tour for us which was totally amazing.
-Great location and many plazas and restaurants nearby.
-I loved the lockers at the head of the bunks but heard other travellers complaining about the awkwardness of them.
-The breakfast of un-toasted white bread and runny eggs left something to be desired.
-Small hostel with good vibes
-Small balcony on second story has a great street view!

I have travelled since March 2013 and when I was travelling in Colombia, I came back to Cartagena and Casa Nativa 3 times! The hostel is located in one of the best areas in old town. Love the curtains around the beds and lockers attached to the bed. But most of all loved the home like athmosphere in the hostel! AND the best thing is that the hostel owner organizes cheap Catamaran trips in the Islas Rosario. What backpacker would say NO to that?????

Nestled in the heart of the old city of Cartagena. The dorm beds were comfortable and had curtains for privacy, adequate size lockers to store your backpack. Bathrooms were average, but a lovely African Colombian lady would clean it at least twice a day. AC was turned on at certain times of the day but that did not bother me or anyone that i met at the hostel. Good WIFI connection in the common area and rooms next to the common area. No hot water but who needs that when its boiling outside. Staff and owner were wonderful people. At night everyone would gather, chat and drink, then head out. Staff made sure that everything went quiet at about 10pm. I would definitely stay at this hostel again.

This place is perfect! Staff is amazing, helpful and super friendly. Plenty of recommendations and were instant friends! Recent renovations, super cute, not noisy at all! Kitchen, wifi, laundry and common area with TV, video games, books and a hammock! Lol it's Ina beautiful, quaint neighbourhood; shopping, restaurants, famous sites. It's in one of the historical areas, so your close to everything you want to see! Mucho gracias! ....Cartagena is hot and sticky FYI! Even if it says it's going to rain!

Room Tip: Only dorm options, both options are identical!

The Casa Nativa Hostal is a very small hostal consisting only of 2 8-bed dorms. Beds are ok and there is airco in the dorms, which you'll like to havein Cartagena! The dorms are a bit cramped and lockers are uneasy to use though. The kitchen and bathrooms were not that clean during our first stay here. When we came back from Palomino to have our second stay at the hostal (which we had booked in advance) they simply told us the hostal was full "because so many peoplehad arrived on that day to ask for a bed that they had give it away"... So, one could say that the staff is not the best you'll find around Colombia... Altogether this was one of our worst hostal experiences in whole South-America
