“Better impossible!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Our experience was unique not only because of the beauty of this house, but also because we were treated as we were at home in the sense that everything we asked or required was surpassed by the manager (Camila) and the personnel in charge of the house..the table was placed for us for breakfast and the selection they made available was wonderful....the location of the house couldn't be better, walking distance of everything you want to see.

While you are there don't forget to ask for the Arepa de Huevo which is a delicacy of the Cartagenean cuisine, prepared right for you!

Room Tip: Ask for the room closest to the pool, which is the brightest one!

This is a lovely hotel in center of the old city. It's got a nice pool in lovely court yard , cheap mini bar, air conditioning, plasma tv and fan. Also hot water which seems to be a bonus in Colombia.

The owners are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good with a colonial touch to it.

After visiting Cartagena I'd pay the extra to stay in the old city...you will want to be able to nip back to the hotel quickly when the midday sun starts to hit.

All in all a very relaxing place to stay.

My fiance and I were skeptical of where to stay in Cartagena and I'd say we hit the jackpot with this gem. This converted villa was located right near one of the north entrances of the fort and was walking distance to anywhere within the walls. The hotel was quiet, and that was my main concern. We were a short distance from shops, restaurants, money exchange, and a street market. The staff was extremely helpful and treated us like we were the only ones there. The rooms were actually quite spacious and the the bathrooms were modern. Every morning we were greeted with a made-to-order breakfast to start the day. I almost didn't want to write a review because I want to insure vacancy for our next trip back. I'd say for the price range of this property, you can't do much better. Isa L.

Our stay coincided with the Summit of the Americas. All the better hotels in the walled city were reserved for visiting heads of state. We finally reserved a room in Casa del Tejadillo mainly because of its location; you can walk everywhere and that is a plus for this converted colonial mansion.
Also on the plus side is the livingroom ( the only place where the wifi worked) and the small, shaded pool area. The rooms are dark, sparsely furnished, the matress very hard. You will not be able to read in the room; the lightbulbs spread light the equivalent of 01 candle! The bathroom is tiny; to wash your hands you have to bend over the toilet. You receive 2 bathtowels and 01 hand towel for 02 persons. Not much in a hot and humid climate.
Breakfast is served upstairs ( comunual table, so be prepared to socialize in the morning!). The owners ( mother and daughter) are friendly and welcoming. I did ask for a better room but there was not much difference between them. Enjoy the location and Cartagena ( beautiful) and spend little time in this B & B.

Room Tip: all rooms are dark!!

My wife and I stayed at Casa del Tejadillo a couple months ago. I would highly recommend this B&B if you are staying inside the city walls. The B&B has about eight rooms that are very large, clean and confortable. Breakfast is served everyday and we were happily suprised to have quite a large selection to choose from. Fresh local fruit was excellent. The staff was extremly helpful in pointing us to some of the local eateries that were not tourist traps. There is a small pool here as well, which we had pretty much to ourselves will we were there. The place was quite yet still very close to everything that Cartagena has to offer.

We just got back from a 5 days' stay at Casa del Tajadillo in Cartagena, Colombia. We travelled with 3 adults and 2 kids. Although there are tons of "fancier" places to stay in Cartagena, what interested me immediately was the kind professional booking process thanks to the manager Camila, the reasonable prices for room and breakfast, and the location of this hotel. The Casa del Tejadillo has everything you could want - a perfect location for sightseeing; good nearby restaurants; the Getsemani neighbourhood just a couple of blocks away; a GREAT and fresh breakfast; a decent-sized pool to cool off after a hot day in the city; good-sized rooms with comfortable beds, super a/c and TV; wi-fi and a very professional, helpful, kind and courteous staff. Like another reviewer, the only thing that could use improvement is the lighting of the rooms (its ok but could use a little more). Camila helped us with all our bookings including restaurants, boat trips to the islands and beaches and with any other questions we had. The other good thing is that the hotel is wonderfully quiet and relaxing and feels like you're the only ones there. Would highly recommend this wonderful little hotel but wish I could keep it a secret for us!!

Room Tip: The mini-suite has a bigger bathroom and looks out on the pool - very pretty!

My husband and I traveled to Cartagena with my sister in law and nephews and stayed four nights at Casa de Tejadillo. It is a lovely, small hotel in the walled city. The rooms are simple, but very comfortable and the setting quiet in cool in this hot, humid, buzzing city. The hotel has a lovely, small pool which was perfect for cooling off and in which my nephews played daily. The breakfast each morning had fresh fruit, eggs, toast, coffee and fresh squeezed juice. Camilla, the owner is helpful with tips about Cartagena and restaurants and the staff friendly and kind.
