We were slightly reticent about our visit to Cartagena, and how "easy" it would be. we also were concerned that we couldn't find a hotel others were chatting about. All of that was overcome by the great experience we had at the Delirio. It is a small hotel, 12 rooms i believe, and small rooms and small bathrooms, but it was spotless and very comfortable. and, after all, how much time do you spend in your room when in Cartagena!! We were greeted at the door by Ernesto, who became a fast friend. Alexa and Elana, our new friends at the front desk could not have been more helpful - they are knowledgeable about good food in this wonderful walled city, and sent us off to many great meals. And Johnny, the maitre de at breakfast in the courtyard was great. This is not the BIG Santa Clara nor Hotel Charleston, and certainly there are places with more amenities and larger rooms, but for a small and intimate setting, where the staff is attentive and friendly, and the facility is clean, you could not ask for more.

I work within the luxury hotel industry and when I travel for leisure the choice of the hotel it's important . Delirio Hotel was really the perfect choice : trendy and contemporary rooms, spacious rooms, confortable bed, great shower and amenities, and delicious breakfast with the best fruit juices I ever had in my life. The staff is extremely effective and nice with the guests and all the recommendations about restaurants , daily excursions to Islas del Rosario etc were just perfect.
In addition to that Delirio Hotel has the best location in the historical and most beautiful part of the city and it's completely safe . You can walk at anytime in the area even very late at night with no worries . I had also the opprtunity to meet the General Manager and I can tell you that she is really taking care that the stay of all the guests is perfect . So no hesitations if you like the best at a very reasonable price Delirio Hotel is the best choice in Cartagena de Indias !! I look forward to come back very soon

We stayed here for New Year's Eve and a few days around the holiday. The staff is awesome. The woman at the front desk (Alexis) has great English and gives good recommendations. The evening doorman was the friendliest person ever. Breakfast was a great deal. Location is perfect. AC is great.
Showers were not always hot but sometimes they were. Our AC unit sort of dripped, resulting in a puddle by the end of a full 24 hours. It wasn't quite as fancy as I was expecting for the price, but I suppose Cartagena is just expensive all around.

The Delirio Hotel is in a prime old town location, just blocks from the Cafe de Mar open air cocktail bar sighted on the picturesque ramparts. The hotel is swank without the high prices you can expect at other hotels. For prime Xmas/New Year's week it was $270+ a night where other like rated hotels were $450+ & up.

Alexa and team made our stay that much more special from giving us tips on the right places to go, to welcoming us as a gay male couple. Welcome drinks, fresh cooked breakfasts and roof top deck (wished there was a pool) made it that more enjoyable. The rooms are tight yet comfortable. The shower is extremely pleasantly powerful which is a rarity in our travels. In room safe is modest so don't expect to lock up an iPad. As for safety, the hotel front door is manned by security at all times and we never had any concerns with theft since the staff is extremely pleasant down to the cook who was an older woman who tried to teach us some key Spanish words. I'm a guest in their country so I don't expect them to know English. Most of the staff know English so it was kind they engaged us.

The only negative thing is the booking process. It took me a good 2+ weeks to inquire and lock down the reservation which was scary since the town was practically sold out. Process was to agree on rate and return a completed hotel form with credit card number and copy of ID. I PDF'd the documents with my email reservation, but it was never processed. If I followed their instructions to fax, there would have been no problem. Once you get here, you'll quickly see everything is hand written with the reservation system. So fax was the intended way to confirm the reservation.

In closing, it was cool to walk out of the hotel each night. It's not apparent from the street that it's a hotel. The front looks like someone's swank living room. So each time we walked out at night, people on the street would stop and look at us. I'm sure they thought it was our private home since the Delirio doesn't come across as your standard cookie cutter place.
