“Great deal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2012 via mobile

We were impressed with the service and location, but mostly with the value-for-$$$ breakdown.

We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights in superior room with balcony on the 3rd floor.
Location is super - in the middle of old town (Walled City San Diego district), but it is a quiet street - not much traffic and noise.
Very good breakfast.
Big-enough room and wardrobe. Safebox in the room. On the balcony suntent, chairs and table. Nice view for the sunset and birds.
Very beautiful public ares - lobby and launges with trees, waterfalls, flowers, relaxing sofas and life-style magazines.
Tje only minus was, that (at least) our room did not had water in the tap at nights (so we had to use shower to wash hands at night).

Room Tip: Take a superior room with balcony, preferably 3rd floor.

Many Wonderful comfortable rooms with great balconies it you don't mind climbing one or two flights of stairs. Bathroom was just OK. Good breakfast of eggs fruit and plantain patty fruits tea and coffee. Good coffee. Air conditioned rooms and helpful staff. Location is GREAT on a beautiful quiet historic street close to several squares , restaurants, attractions and city wall. My ONLY real issue was no pool to cool off in (the photos of the beach and pool are in their other facility that is out of town a bit but they will transport you there for a fee) but to compensate there was a lovely breeze on our balcony. Cartagena seemed very pricey to us for dining and shopping: so the seemingly high cost of the hotel is in keeping with the cost of things in this city.

I stayed in the 3 Banderas for 10 days and really enjoyed this hotel. It is very central, right where the restaurants are. Everything is within walking distance. Very friendly personnel! I had a 2nd floor room with a very pretty private terras with view over Cartagena. The room had a small flatscreen TV and a small refrigerator.

We were very pleased with Hotel 3 Banderas.

The location is excellent, it was very clean and the price was decent.

Like most small hotels in Colombia, the room was small but very clean. We had hot water (not always the case in Cartagena), clean towels each day, a big comfortable bed, internet access and A/C that worked great.

The breakfast selection was quite large. Fresh juices, cereals, pastries, eggs, fresh fruit and coffee was available every morning -- served to us by the most pleasant woman.

The common areas of the hotel are really pleasant, with lots of plants and fountains surrounded by seating with books/magazines about Cartagena available.

Overall a good hotel for the price. Not the fanciest place, but definitely a clean, quiet, safe place to stay.

We stayed here just before Christmas 2011, at the beginning of the Colombian high season, so the prices may have been higher than usual. That would be a good thing, as while the hotel was nice, it was overpriced for our stay. We had a room with a balcony (which was nice for evening drinks during sunset). The room was clean, and the water was hot in the shower (not that we needed much hot water!) Some members of the front desk staff seemed to really love their jobs (Francisco was fantastic) while others seemed to be bored by helping us.

The location was great - we walked all over Cartagena from the hotel. We booked in advance over fears of rooms in the area being booked due to it being high season, but plenty of places seemed to have vacancies. If we were to do it again, I would not have locked us in to this hotel for four nights.

Room Tip: I didn't see the inside of the non-balcony rooms, but they opened onto the courtyard, and I thin...

Booked on the Internet for the hotel on Isla Tierrabomba for 3 days over New Year weekend…Transport included to the island and a welcome drink - Very favourable first impressions of the room, the facilities and the resort generally…Enjoyed a fish lunch on the terrace and a lovely afternoon sun-bathing on the private beach with fabulous views of Cartagena. Went back to the room in the early evening and there was no water to wash with…It was the same throughout the rest of the hotel. The shower head was blocked so we had to call maintenance in order to rectify the issue…The water from the storage tanks was coming out black :(…We changed rooms…No cable TV (only 3 national channels), no telephones in any of the rooms, stained bed-sheets…It´s important not to expect too much but there were too many bases being missed here for my liking and too many flies in the ointment all told. After spending the weekend on the island we went to the sister hotel in the Historical Centre…It was an average hotel/hostal offering small doubles situated on noisy metal landings, dirty carpets, basic breakfast included and free Internet…No value for the price…Unfortunately location was about all the City hotel had going for it and there are a number of other options in a comparable price range that may do better. Shop around and do your best to grab a better deal...
