“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

We stayed for 3 nights. Mr. Bruno at Concierge was awesome and very knowledgeable. He arranged our sightseeing trips to Leshan, Mt. Emi, Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Panda Breeding and Research Center and Jinli street. With his help we could to move around the city as a native. The breakfast buffet including Chinese and western food was very delicious. Lobby was distinct for flower arrangement and decor. Beds with several pillows were very comfortable and bathrooms superb.

The moment we walked into the lobby we were in awe by the dimensions of it. There is a two-storey tea house built inside the lobby and the check-in is also a separate house. Very tasteful with great flower arrangements and decor. The rooms were spacious and with a selection of several pillows and comfy bed. Fantastic tub and walk-in closet. We had an issue with the room smelling like smoke and it was handled very professionally by the staff. But is not the hotels fault if other guests decide to smoke in their non-smoking rooms. We booked the club lounge but were very disappointed by the quality of the food. It all looked very nice and like they had put a lot of effort in styling it, but the taste usually was not as good. The breakfast items were often oily or lukewarm. We once had dinner at the buffet in the huge lobby. Here again - it all looked amazing and very promising, but in the end the actual taste did not hold it's promise. The location in the Century City is away from the sights, but you will have plenty of restaurants and shops in walking distance. For us going to the Pandas, the Antique Market and the Temple we had to take a taxi anyway and the location did not matter for us. The friendliness of the staff was outstanding!

Stayed at this property over a long week-end. The hotel was extremely clean and room great. Yet, breakfast quality was overall not at the expected level: a lot of choices but quantity prevailed on quality. None of the staff at concierge was able to speak English and this was frustrating. Surprisingly, there is no swimming pool available! I will stay again at this hotel as conveniently located near my company, but i would consider trying other properties if i were to stay on a pleasure trip.

I stayed in this hotel several times. It's a great, modern and yet traditional hotel. The rooms are big, the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are superb, and the walking closet is the icing on the cake. The breakfast is great, including both tasty Chinese and Western food..The dinner buffet is also good but too expensive. One problem is common in China is that there isn't enough non-smoking room. There was one time I was put in a smoking room.

The problem with this hotel is the location. The office I go to work while I'm there is about 1.5 miles from the hotel, in TianFu Software Park. Taxi drivers don't want to take me because it's too close for them to make money (they usually wait in line for one hour at the hotel). There isn't a bus to go to the office. As soon as a taxi driver realizes where I want to go, he usually becomes mad and rude. This is a struggle everyday. It's also too far away to go to downtown. It could take 1 hour to go to downtown in a car in the rush hour.

Room Tip: Suggestion: walk to the subway station which is about 10 min walk and take the subway to go to downt...

Dear Sophie, thank you very much for choosing to stay at InterContinental Century City Chengdu! We are glad to provide tasty foods and enjoyable atmosphere to all the guests. It is so kind of you to understand the waiting taxi drivers, while you may turn to hotel Concierge if you have transportation needs. Besides, a tip for guest who would like to go to downtown during rush hour is taking subway which shortens time to around 20 minutes. Again, thanks to your comments to share with us your experience. We are looking forward to your next trip to Chengdu.

I attended a conference here and it was managed fantastically by the hotel. The hotel has a traditional chinese feel but the service and food is of international standards. It even had vegetarian north Indian food available. The rooms are huge with excellent space and very nice bath. Also the hotel has a big complex of restaurants attached to it where right from sichuan style chinese food to some really great italian pizzas are available. Is a great place with very good value for money as well.

You can anticipate this from the first time you see it arriving at night from Chengdu airport by taxi. The hotel is lit up with strips of blue lights and is definitely the largest building in the area. The entrance hall is huge, so large in fact that it is easy to miss where you should be gong to check in, not to mention the fact that you are entranced in awe at the sheer size of the place. We must have appeared completely lost because a pretty hotel staff saw us and quickly ran over from the other side of the hall to greet us and accompany us to the check-in area, and then proceeded to give us a glass of orange juice each because we "looked so tired" ! Great impression from the first five minutes of getting into the hotel.

The check-in desk is actually located in a small period Chinese house located towards the far end of the hall. It reminded me a bit of large entrance halls of Las Vegas casinos, but without the tackiness. Iwas upgraded to a club room on the 27th floor. The rooms are large and as expected have all the amenities including bathrobes and slippers. It was a real pity that we arrived there late around 10PM and had to leave the next day for customer meetings and a flight to Shanghai.

Buffet breakfast and internet access was included. The buffet is large and varied ranging from Chinese to American fare- the pastries were especially good.

The only negative thing to say is that the bar/lounge on the ground floor permits smoking and if you are someone who is used to smoking being banned at public indoor places, it is not a pleasant place to have a drink. There was also live music.

Pros:
* Large luxury hotel with a wow factor
* Very comfortable and quiet room and bed for a good night's sleep
* Excellent service
* Several restaurants with varying cuisine although we didn't have time to try any
* Large selection in breakfat buffet - excellent pastries
* Live music in the bar/lounge

Cons:
* Smoking permitted in bar/Lounge

Friendly & helpful staff, the most beautiful hotel room I've ever seen, amazing buffet/brunch breakfast, nice restaurants/bars, fancy but cute decorated lobby.
Also, the quality/price ratio is great, very cheap for such a luxuriousness.
The hotel is new, and I was told that it was the best hotel in Chengdu.

The location and view is not that great, but what do you expect from Chengdu, you're definitely not there for the view.
