We stayed in the 5* hotel building (4* buildin currently being upgraded). Located in a big park in the SW part of Chengdu. Nice, new and clean rooms in good condition, excellent beds and bedding.
Convenient location for panda centre visit (about 25 mins by taxi), but about 30 mins' ride to city centre due to lots of road works (including new metro line being built) currently being undertaken in this area. When road workscompleted, this issue would be resolved. In the meantime the problem is mainly to get a taxi to go back to the hotel. Often long waits and very difficult to get taxis during rush hours.
Other points: hotel staff very friendly, lovely live music with Chinese instruments in the lobby in the evenings. Big Chinese-style breakfast buffet.
