Hotel are located are very good location. room rate are good but both service and management are not considerate.

Toilet system was making user feel nervous because you will need to think it good eoungh for flush all stuff out.

Door man has no intension to offer taxi for you.

Buffet has no inidication of different juice, so you will need to taste it then specifiy the juice by different color.

You will be disappoint if you wish to have a sofitel standard.

After 4 days in Harbin this hotel was like paradise. The bedrooms are top draw and well furnished. Good to have some western food after a long time even though it was basic. Slight problem with some restaurant staff who seem to be under training and got a few orders wrong, but they did try their best. Great hotel I would go there again. Question... Why do hotels in China offer fre wifi but in western hotels I have to pay?

I would not rate it as a five star hotel due to the average service offered by the various (polite) staff I encounterd. It is located about 30 minutes away from Chengdu Aiport by taxi (traffic was not heavy). Around half the floors are non-smoking, a small gym is located on the fifth floor, equipment slightly outdated. The gym's heating cannot be turned off. The heated indoor pool is nice, around 15m long, but the cramped changing room is a little disappointing. Oddly enough the spa and jacuzzi is for men only and ladies have to make do without one. Both the gym and pool is opened until midnight. The breakfast buffet is average with the usual western and Chinese choices of food.
There is a large supermarket (Carrefour) located north of the hotel, a 15 minute walk away on Jinxing Road. Another 10 minute walk and there is a huge pedestrian walkway full of shopping centres on Chunxi Road, dotted with small local snack shops.
It is not such a bad hotel but it is not up to the usual Sofitel standards, I cannot say I will stay here again.

Great Hardware (rooms, physical amenities),

poor software
- at times understaffed - i once at 1.30am rang room service/front desk for 30mins and no one picked up
- quite hard to get a taxi

Location is average.

i've stayed here 3-4 times and don't stay anymore as it's a hit and miss and don't want to risk it when there are other hotels that can provide a much higher, consistent service. certainly

This is really a 3.5 star hotel.

The good things about it are.

1. Location. It is only 400 metres to the Metro. This is very useful. At the end of my stay I walked there and got the metro to the East Rail Station. It only takes 45 minutes. Much better than a taxi (Chengdu gets blocked up by traffic in the rush hour), nice and relaxed by metro so long as you do not have heavy bags. The hotel is also only 15 minutes walk north to Temple Square, so it is pretty central.

Well... thats the only good thing about it.

Average things:
1. The rooms- not as good as most Sofitels hotels, but average 3.5 star quality. At leaast there was a bath.

2. Breakfast. Not at all special, indeed very average. Not as good as brakfasts in other Sofitels I havce stayed at. Certainly n ot sufficient variety of fruits. No pineapple available. The one slightly good thing was that they did have good French bread. The problem was that is was not all that fresh.

3. Staff. On the positive side they do try to be helpful. Congratulations on most of the service. But it is the little things that really count. I was asked to sit at a table directly facing a column where the opposite seat should have been. Very strange when there were plenty of other free tables with a view.

4. Gym. The gym is very small. I just has the minimum equipment. I never saw any staff there.

Bad things:

1. No air conditining, just a warning or cooling system that you cannot control. I wanted much cooler air, this was not possible. I could not open the windows which were locked shut.

2. I wanted to upgrade to the Executive floor. This was not possible. The floor was being used for a corporate event when I went there. What a pity.


So for me a most forgetable experience. I will try the Fraser Suites next time.

I stayed one night in this hotel. It was a business trip. I arrived with a colleague at 3 30 pm. Our rooms were not ready.The receptionist told us we had to wait 40 minutes. He gave us two coupons to have a soft drink at the bar. We had to pay at the bar because I chose a capuccino, which apparently could not be order with the coupon and the other drink, a perrier, was charged by mistake. So they gave us for free another bottle of perrier (!)
The room (nr 1062, twin bed) overlooks a building under demolition. Bad smell in the room and I had to open the window for a while.

I had asked my tour operator to reserve us a nice hotel in Chengdu in a central location and with a non-smoking room. Upon our late arrival (past mid-night) at the Sofitel Wanda, we were informed that the standard non-smoking rooms were booked so they immediately upgraded us to a suite at no additional cost - nice! The suite was very large and a view of the river from the window. Free internet access in the room with decent speed. The included Breakfast was excellent - more than enough to last us through the morning. This hotel is located right next to the river walk which is very convenient for those interested in taking a stroll along the river. Outside the hotel, there are many choices to go for coffee shops and restaurants as well. We enjoyed our 3-night stay here at the Sofitel Wanda Chengdu - no complaints at all.
