“Hard to find but well worth the effort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

Not the easiest place to find, it is in the same building as the Rhombus Hotel, on the 24th floor. But once you arrive it is easy to see why it won a tripadvisor award. The rooms are large, clean and well appointed. Fridge, washing machine, free computer, air-conditioning all come as standard. The hotel is quiet and well located right in the downtown area. Breakfast is included in the small restaurant at street level, you are supposed to choose two items from those available, but if you act like a "stupid foreigner" as I did you can have what you want. Great value, good nights sleep, what more can you ask for? Thoroughly recommended!

We booked this apartment hotel specifically because of the washing machine in the room - definitely needed after traveling around China for a few weeks. The room was very spacious for China - had a mini kitchen but no cooking elements. Apparently the kitchen is not for cooking. Not a big deal for us, but others may want to know. The bed was comfortable and the linens and towels were clean. The one issue for us was the cleanliness of the bathroom - there was still some hair on the floor in the toilet area and other "things" which we choose to ignore. The shelf in the shower was falling off and the shower itself was still a bit dirty - one rinse over with the shower head and we were good to go. The carpets had a few minor stains as well, but nothing that looked recent. Of note, the bathroom walls are all glass (as is normal in China, it appears) but did have curtains to pull across the glass doors.

Best part about this room was definitely the washing machine. Although there is no dryer (we hung to clothes in various places around the room), the washing machine was nearly brand new and of good quality. You can buy laundry detergent from the front desk staff for 5RMB.

The staff do not speak good English, or possibly no English at all. However they have a translation program on their computer which you both can type into for communication, if necessary. We had no issues with communication, despite the language barrier.

Location is ok - walking distance to Chunxi street (1km). We also walked to Tianfu Square, People's park and The wide/narrow lanes shopping district (about 2-3km one way). Subway is close by. Only two blocks to the river.

One hint - the hotel is hard to find. It is on the 24th floor of a high rise commercial building with no signs out front. Once you get to where you think the building should be, go in the door marked 20o (not 216 as the address shows) and go to the 24th floor, room 2411. The door is near a bank, ginkgos restaurant and a wowo convenience store).

The room is very spacious. Contemporarily decorated. It comes with a small kitchen (cooking is not allowed though) and a washing machine. The room looks bigger than the photos u see here. The bed is very comfortable and clean. It is about 10 mins walk from main shopping area.

The owner is friendly and u may get tips from him for local food.

Stayed in Jinguan on March 2012.I was suppose to stay in Buddha Zen, but it was full so decided to stay in Jinguan. Its located in commercial high class office service block. The room is full equip with washing machine, dining table, sink and some basic cooking utensil. Just 5 - 10 minutes walk, have great affordable restaurant which I am missing there food now.

The owner looks young and handsome. He speaks English. Staff at Jinguan are help and attentive in recommending us places to visit. In March was the best time there. slightly cold, but nice to walk around as you an see cherry blossom blossoming. However no restaurant available in Jinguan, but no hassle. Food is everywhere

We had quite a sizeable room - much bigger than expected. Was very grateful for the washing machine after 4weeks travelling. That said, only way to dry it was to hang it all around the room! The management didn't speak much English but were as helpful as they could be. Rooms were cleaned each day but to varying standards. Overall, I would recommend it for the room size, location and modern appearance.

Stayed at Impression two times in October in two different units. The location is weird, in a 32 story building that contains other "hotels" like Flower City Hotel. Apparantly you can open a "hotel" in an office type building. This hotel took up several floors and as stated there is no sign. The room appears less than 3 years old. One room we had seemed a bit roomier but not by much. Flat screen tv, a washer but no dryer, we had no toaster or microwave, just a coffee pot to boil water or pasta. Rooms have sinks, no stove. Overall not to be too picky but we arrived early prior to 9 A.M. and there is no lobby or waiting area so we pretty much had to walkaround until after noon. The unit we had on the 31st floor had a faint smell/odor in the toilet area probably poor ventihg. Minor issues. Close enough to walk to giant shopping area. Restaurants, pharmacy close, a 7-11 at street level. Of the 5 nights we only were able to get the noted $30 rate on 2 of them. Other nights were in the $40+ range.

We recently stayed three nights at the hotel, most of it was good but.....
We arrived in Chengdu at 11pm after traveling for over 12 hours, so to say we were tired was an understatement. It was very frustraing trying to find the hotel as there is no signage on the outside of the building. Also, once we found the building there was no sign anywhere saying to go to the 24th floor for check in. It stated to go to room 2411 on our room confirmation but it was in Chinese so I was not able to read this information. Luckily there was a chinese couple at the elevator that spoke english and were able to read our confirmation and direct us to the 24th floor.
I am not quite as satisfied as many of the other people that have rated this hotel. At first glance the room looks very nice, close to the photos but upon closer inspection the room is not as clean as it should be and it is starting to show wear and tear. I know beds in Asia can be on the hard side but could feel the springs in our bed. There is TV with approx. 60 channels but only one in English. It would have been nice to have CNN or other English news channels. Don't get me wrong I'm not expecting thing to be like they are in Canada. I know this is not a 5 star hotel but I do expect a certain level of cleanliness even in 3 star hotel.
The internet is free but very, very slow and not overly reliable. To be honest I would have preferred to pay and have quicker more reliable internet.
Don't know if we'd return to this hotel.
