To tell the truth, I was disappointed with Jinli Street. I guess it became a bit too touristy and popular to preserve its original liveliness and charm. Sure, there were shops with traditional objects (one shop with candy-picture, one shop with shadow theatre figures, one shop with...), but also many others: one shop with traditional African things (?!), some with simple kitch souvenirs, jewellery... The sellers were quite tired and apathetic (but maybe that's a good thing : ). There were many busy stands with traditional snacks, true, but the quality of the snacks was sometimes questionable. I think the same things could be a lot tastier if prepared with more care.
Nevertheless, it's still a must-see. The architecture of the street is very pretty, there ARE some interesting things to see and eat... All I want to say is - if there was any magic charm of the street, this magic is gone. Maybe my opinion is partly due to the fact that I paid a visit during daytime.
