“a nice walk”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2014

This was better when it had a fantastic cafe - there is a light house and great views of Qingdao from the water. go to the naval museum right beside it first as the entrance is on a different street but the exit is right on the entrance to the walkway to the island.

“Small entrance fee, one of the prettiest views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

For a really small entrance fee you can pass a long pier and walk around a small island in front of Qingdao with a lighthouse. The park is nicely decorated, you will see pretty flowers and trees as well as some nice pieces of art (a statue with a lyra, that is really enchanting) During summer you can enjoy cold beverages and lie around in the sun. I highly recommend this island, the small fee is absolutely worth it and you can walk to Lu Xun Park from there. (Which is also really nice ^^)

“A small island”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014

It is a small island and you can walk around it in ten minutes if you just want to do that. However, you may choose to enjoy yourself by taking in the view. Zhanqiao Pier can be seen from here and the sea breeze is great. If you walk along the causeway back to the main road, you will pass the Navy museum. It look like a junk yard but it does have its appeal. We did not have the time to do so. The couple of sea food restaurants just before the main road look interesting too.

“We enjoyed it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

While we visited we thought it would be a nice place to have a picnic in a shady spot, watch the boats and people go by. Great views. Stairs carved into stone.
Before you get onto the dam to walk across to Little Qingdao you will find a few Seafood restaurants and also a park called Luxun park. Right and left of the main entrance gate to that park you will find some nice dragon mosaics.
WC available on the island. Entrance fee I think was RMB I0.

“Nice in combination with Navy museum”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

We first went to the Navy museum. Once we left this museum we walked to Xiao Qingdao. Right now (July 2013) you need to walk back to the main street, turn right and right again to find your way to the dam connecting mainland with Xiao Qingdao.

The door/gate connecting the navy museum directly with the dam was closed.

The small island itself is, well, small. In fact it is so small that a walk around it maybe takes you 10 minutes. The lighthouse is still in operation and therefore can't be visited. The coffee shop is closed. And to my eyes it doesn't look like its going to be re-opened soon.

Don't get me wrong here. The views on the city and the sea are indeed very nice. There is a booth where you can buy a ride on a boat. The entrance fee to the island of 10 RMB is just fine.

But, just going there only for the island is probably not worth it. Combine it with a visit to the navy museum and it's a nice addition to your day.
