“Only downside is the bar”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

This hotel is well-built. The rooms are comfortably furnished. The price is very affordable. The food is quite good. The only downside is the first floor hotel bar. What would normally be bottles of dark liquor have gone pastel from all the water the management has poured into them. Jose Cuervo Tequila is not, and never has been, a light yellow colored drink! It is gold, triumphantly so. I suspect many of the Chinese guests are not accustomed to Western liquor so cannot tell the difference, but when your Bailey's is as thin as milk... well, you don't get 5 stars!

The Haiyun Jinjiang Hotel can only be described as pure indulgence and value for money. Stayed in the hotel for 3 nights whilst on business and cannot fault the place. I believe that the Hotel is only 2 years old so everything is still relatively new. The hotel looks opulent and I still can’t believe that the rooms were only AUD $90.00 per night. The staff were very professional and friendly as were all the Chinese that I meet. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The rooms were large with wonderful comfortable beds. Obtained the WiFi code from the reception and worked well in the room. The bathroom in my room had a bath and separate shower, I didn’t use the bath but would expect that it would be a wonderful place to warm up in after venturing out on a snowy winters day.
The only criticism I have of the hotel was that none of the staff that I came across at the reception could speak English accurately and I had to ring my interpreter to translate for me a couple of times, but at the end of the day it was no big deal. I would defiantly stay there again, no questions asked.

For the price one pays, what one gets from this hotel tops it all. Being spitting distance from Shenyang train station, it is conveniently located on a busy high street with saunas and karaokes flanking the hotel on either side.

The room is reasonably large and the bathroom is excellently decorated. All the 5-star amenities are there, and TV has CNN and HBO plus the usual local channels.

Breakfast is well served and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. As it is at times difficult to get a taxi in Shenyang, it is worth getting the front desk to pre-book one in advance.

Location
Located around 30-40 minutes drive from the airport. The hotel is situated on a busy road and the Shenyang train station is 200 metres away. Lots of restaurants (mainly hot pot), shops and other hotels on the street. In general a good location to city centre.
Room
Room is a decent size and felt cosy. There is a large desk to do work with a strip of plugs and a large TV with a good amount of TV channels including CNN, HBO and BBC. There is a lounge chair which is long so one can rest legs. The bed was comfortable and soft.
Decor was more conservative type than modern however it was cosy and warm. There was a decent amount of lighting options as well as plenty of plugs. There are large windows which offers a good view of the city (see photo). The bathroom was all in marble with a bath and separate shower in a cubicle with rain shower and detachable shower heads with good pressure and hot water. Amenities were adequate but with hotel branding only.
Overall the room was comfortable and warm, the heater worked well and the room and bathroom were of a high standard of cleanliness.
Facilities
The hotel does have I believe has various restaurants, didn't use them but did see a japanese one nicely decked out on the same floor where the gym and spa are is. The hotel does have a pool which is large and decorated in a nice room with balconies and palm trees. The Gym seems new with lots of machines for a hotel. WIFI is free and works well in the room.
Staff
Staff speak English quite well, professional and friendly to a 5 star standard. Check-in and check out was relatively quick and efficient.

Overall only stayed here one night but room was comfortable, very reasonable price (500Y) with free WIFI in a happening location.

This hotel is an excellent value for the price. The quality is between 4 and 5 stars. They upgraded us to multi-room suites for about $65 USD per night! HUGE rooms! Marble on the walls. Very, very comfortable and gigantic beds.

The ONLY thing I would complain about is that many cheaper hotels in China are now providing computers in each room for guests to use. My client was displeased that he was told to use the hotel's business office which charged by the hour. HOWEVER, after complaining about this, the staff manager allowed my client to use her own PC in her office without charge. So, all-in-all, I think that this is a really small quibble.

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel if you're staying in Shenyang!
