“No Improvement”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2011

From the previous reviewers, there seem to be a consistent theme of lackluster service and air conditioning not working correctly. I have had 12+ nights scattered over the last few months there and the same issues keep coming up. It's not that the hotel management is uninterested in fixing the issues, I just don't think they know how. Which is sad for an otherwise nice hotel carrying the SPG brand in China.

I should mention now that I am a repeat guest, it seem that the check-in and check-out procedure is a little faster, but it may be that I am numb to the consistently slow service?

I would recommend the hotel if you have a short stay, these little issues will quickly overwhelm you if you stay more than a few days.

Sheraton Wuxi is a business hotel with a warm atmosphere. I really appreciated the warm decorating tones (e.g., golds, beiges), after spending a week being surrounded by cooler, gray colors at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai. The breakfast buffet is amazing - foods from many parts of the world. Hotel rates were attractive. Meeting rooms are pleasant.

I stayed in this hotel and surprised by the ultra modern facilities.
If they improve some minor points, this hotel deserves truly 5 stars. Allow me to list some cautions since good points were all raised by fellow travellers and I fully agree with the positives. My points are: sound proof. My room was facing the street and I expected more sound proof since I heard always traffic and some Band playing Karaoke music. Second is bath room. Very modern but the bath tab is very slippery. We need some arrangments. Lastly, food. Very nicely decolated but serving is very modest. But overall, it was nice stay and maybe my comments are too harsh. I have no intention to discourage people to stay. Definitely, it is a nice place in this rapidly growing city of WUXI.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing the main street

We found the Sheraton after doing an extensive search of hotels in Wuxi - it proved to be the most bang for the buck. I travel to Wuxi quite often for work and found it really important to have a comfortable room to come back to after a long day of work. The lobby, hallways and especially the rooms are very nicely done and clean. Rooms are nicely decorated, large, and very comfortable. My only complaint would be that I have had to switch rooms to find one that could actually cool down to a comfortable temperature. However, when I requested a new room, they made sure to find one that didn't face the rising or setting sun, and had house-keeping run the air for day to ensure that it would cool down enough before I moved to it.

The restaurants are all nice - it is good to have 3 located right in the hotel so that you don't have to travel far for breakfast or dinner. The food is average, nothing spectacular, but not bad. I will say that the "all you can eat" sushi in the Japanese restaurant is a bit disappointing - the sushi looks nothing like the pictures in the menu, and are filled with more rice than fish. However, don't pass up the "all you can eat" dinner buffet and wine. While the food is okay with a decent variety of food choices, the unlimited wine is actually really good and worth the price of dinner.

Room Tip: For the summer months, be sure to get a room on the north or south facing sides to ensure a cooler r...

Stayed there for 1 week while traveling to Wuxi for business. Brand new Sheraton with lovely modern decor and spacious rooms. Open concept bathroom with speakers in shower stall / over bathtub so you can watch TV while having a bath.

On-site restaurants...there are several dining choices on-site...Chinese, Japanese, Western, and the buffet. All were reasonably well executed. Ordered room service one night and it was done nicely as well.

There is a 3-level shopping centre right across the street with quite a few stores (mostly fashion, including Zara) and also a few restaurants. Not so much for touristy shopping but a great place to get some essentials (there is a Watson's drug store) and snacks and such.

Will definitely stay there again....

Although not located in the prime district of Wuxi, the newly opened Wanda Shopping Mall right beside the hotel is certainly a plus. Now you have a good range of selections for food, affordable fashion boutiques and even a top notch cinema. So you don't have to worry about where to go. The hotel has Flipino singers performing in the lobby bar on weekends, so if you find the surrounding a bit off-putting (because they are digging subways now), you can submerge into this musical heaven downstairs.

The room is impeccable with all the necessary stuff for a five star chain. I have stayed there twice and the latest one met some minor problems. I was put to room 1102 and every morning there was very loud door-slamming noise coming about. I suspect it was the clean lady who was making up the next door. The glass doors in the toilet do have a slamming noise problem. But it was a bit surprising that the noise in the other room can reach my room.

Try the Japanese restaurant on the second floor. They have lunch specials. Two thumbs up!!

Check in and check out sometimes can be slow as there might be groups. In those moments, the reception staff can be a bit uptight and tense and tend to be forgetful. Hope they could improve as time goes by.

Room Tip: Book via starwood and I got very low rate

Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights , the bathroom was excellent with glass wall overlooking the bed. The food in the hotel somewhat requires improvement. Never order Ala carte , we ordered nasi goring , and it was so horrible, nobody cooks fried rice with sticky rice. Tasteless. The food Definetly require upgrading . Other then that the hotel is excellent, the staff could also understand English .
