“Good choice, clean new hotel, helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2011

The hotel is new and one of the tallest buildings in the old Suzhou area. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The hotel staff is especially helpful. The in hotel restaurant does a fabulous job of presentation of their buffet foods but the taste is not up to the looks. It is a bit too far away from most attractions to walk so you will need to take a taxi to most places. The hotel arranged for a taxi to take us to Tongli Water Town. It only cost 100RMB per hour to take us and wait for us, about 5 hours total. Most taxi rides were only about 20RMB. However if you plan to catch a taxi on the street be sure you are the only ones waiting for a taxi, if not you will not get it as it will always be stolen from you no matter what, move up the street 50m or so if anyone else is also waiting. Bring napkins to China as local restaurants do not provide them and any you can buy are in essence Kleenex.

The tallest hotel in the city that shows its age. Basic hotel with ok service. Small gym and ok breakfast, Location is interesting as it close to real and crowded chinese life...karaoke, gentlemen's cludn, go carting, movies, open air mall with hundreds of families at night, a food lane for walking with windows with live snakes, frogs and scorpion, shopping of all kinds, richshaw ride, you name it..

I love this hotel. I've stayed here on 3-different business trips. First was on Oct2009 then April 2010 and recently May 2011. I keep choosing this hotel because i like it. The hotel staff is great! They always smile. Good way to start the day :)

If by any chance i will be at Suzhou again, i will choose this hotel.

My only worries are slow elevator :) No swimming pool.

Keep up the good work!

Really impressed with the size and comfort of the rooms. The staff were helpful and professional. It's a smoothly run operation with good dining options inside the hotel. This is good because there aren't many Western options in the area. The hotel is right next to a complex of local restaurants so if you like exploring the local cuisine, you're in the right place. There's internet access in the room and a writing desk if you need to work. There are no real negatives with this hotel. It also has the advantage of being very well priced. I enjoyed my stay.

If you looking for a place for a good sleep, i will recommend Holiday Inn Jasmine ( Mok Lie Hwa Jiu Tian in chinese ) . Spacious room with nice beds and bathroom.

As for the location, it's not that bad. It's located at crowded junction with malls and clubs.
And the taxi was CHEAP (never paid more than RMB30 for city ride), hence sometimes it's hard to get one on certain time.
Ask a concierge to write down in chinese places you will visit. Front desk speak very well English.

Really enjoyed our stay here. We were upgraded upon arrival for no reason to a massive room with the largest bed I have ever seen (the bed was quite firm, but alas all beds are firm to hard in China!). The shower (which is a big thing for me) was excellent - great water pressure and hot! We also requested a non-smoking room, which we got, and there was no lingering smell of smoke like you sometimes get in asian hotels.

The included buffet breakfast was good and the staff spoke enough english to help us when required. I really couldn't have asked for anything more from a hotel.

The hotel is on the edge of the mall, so walking distance to shopping. Also walking distance to 'old town' section and the canal boat docks for scenic rides down the canals and to tiger hill.

There is a restaurant on the 5th level of the hotel - we did find out that it is not actually affiliated with the hotel, so you can't charge the meals to your room. This wasn't an issue for us, but if you choose to eat there take your wallet with you.

This is a good HI property with nice rooms and a ncie overall level of quality. However, the location is not in the business district and will requre a taxi ride in order to join the action. The hotel itself is fairly new and everything was great during my stay. I recommend it as long as location isn´t a priority .
