Our ONLY problem was that the taxi driver followed the signs to the hotel which lead to a parking garage. The hotel is a couple of blocks away and the folks at the garage (not hotel employees are complete rude nasty jerks who wouldn't help a dying old lady get a last drink of water). Don't go into the garage, ask people on the street. After that everything was wonderful. We got a room upgrade-huge, clean, new and lovely. Hotel design is way out there modern. Front desk always has English speaker who can communicate if you don't try speaking 100 words per minute. A few reviewers said breakfast was not good. Breakfast was primarily Chinese (it is in China) and great with enough western items to satisfy you if you look for them. I'm not sure about dinner but it seemed expensive and uninteresting French based on menu. Try at least one dinner at Wangshi where the food is wonderful and the waitresses are so rude that it has to be a comedy act. If it isn't take it as one anyway.

Stayed here for the May Bank Holiday. Excellent location - central downtown and not particularly noisy. Rooms are modern and fairly large with King size beds. The staff on reception were pleasant with adequate English spoken. It's a funky hotel with themed lifts and the shower is glass panelled with a forest impression. The room was rather warm and I couldn't seem to get the a/c working to really cool the room. It was mentioned to the reception and a person was immediately sent up but there was no improvement. The breakfast was fine and the bed lovely and soft - compared to the usual firmness of beds in China. The hotel was very clean.

We stayed in two rooms, in two days. 50m away from the famous Guangqian Street, this hotel is not well known for the taxi driver. But it has clean and spacious room, good breakfast buffet, friendly staff(especially Eric), and relatively cheap. Room WIFI has satisfactory speed.

ps. The bathroom wall consists of transparent window.

We booked for three days via cTrip.

Location was excellent, close to the pedesrian street.

The room was a standard size with good qualty fittings but it was our first experience of the disconcerting practice in some China hotels of clear glass walls on the bathroom and toilet with zero personal privacy. We tried to get a room with obscure bathroom and toilet walls but apparently all rooms are the same in that respect.

There are some English language news, documentary and movie channels on the TV. The bed was very, very firm. Limited English comprehension available at the desk. Breakfast was excellent with good choices of Western and Chinese foods. We had repeated problems with key-cards; twice they were de-acivated by front desk staff who mistakenly thought we had checked out.

The hotel experience was acceptable but could have been much better without the privacy, hard bed and key-card problems.

Just back from 4 weeks in China and this wins the best hotel of the trip. Staff is very helpful, location excellent, room was great. Good buffet breakfast. And at the price we paid it was an excellent value. Would go back; highly recommend.

We stayed at four hotels during our two week trip, and this was my favorite. The design had personality; location was great; breakfast was good, extensive, and included; staff were quite helpful and English proficient; price was very reasonable; and Suzhou is a good place to spend time. The hotel is located adjacent to a major shopping street and walking distance (20 minutes) to Humble Adminstrator's Garden. The only negative was that taxis won't go to the front of the hotel. They drop you about 1/2 block away, but you can't see the hotel from where they drop you so finding it can be a challenge. And, taxis won't pick you up either, so we took the hotel shuttle back to the train station (15RMB/person). Beds were also quite comfortable.
