Very nice hotel in a downtown location. Hotel/rooms were a little tired and the bath was very standard. Two bottles of water in room. Staff very professional and great English. Soft bed (for China--were all hotel beds in China are very hard). On a group tour with China Focus. Included breakfast (with tour) in revolving resturant on 27th floor--great view and probably the best selection/quality of breakfast from our tour. Downtown location was great for close by exploring of the night market and flower market. In the morning visited Zhongshan Park which was filled with thousand of locals doing morning exercises, which was an amazing/real China moment. Though I didn't use, in room internet was only 30 yuan.

I stayed in this hotel two years ago while on a tour of China and found it perfectly adequate -- much better than the American version of Holiday Inns.

But what a difference two years makes! In October 2006, I stayed there again on a similar tour, and my room was horrible: a stained pathway on the carpet from the doorway around the bed to the nighttable; a table lamp with some of it's feet broken, such that it leaned at about a 30degree angle on the desk; and AC that barely functioned enough to adequately cool the room, even when set to the lowest possible temperature on high fan. We had 13 rooms in our group, and most of the others has similar complaints; though one or two thought their rooms were fine.

I can only assume that perhaps they have begun a room-by-room renovation, or are planning one, and are not repairing anything in anticipation; but I certainly did not appreciate it in my room.

It's a pity, because there is an excellent revolving restaurant at the top of the hotel that does a really great buffet -- breakfast, lunch and dinner: much more variety than you get at most hotel buffets, and excellent quality food; with attentive wait staff.

This can be a good choice in Wuhan, but I would check to see when it was last renovated, and avoid it if not recent.
