“Stay here only if you have to stay in this part of the town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

Stayed here twice as it is closer to the client. Rooms are large, clean, and air-conditioned. Other than that, Karaoke parlor takes up a few floors of the hotel and it could get loud and a bit rowdy with young crowd in town. Entry way to the hotel is a hangout for vehicles, apparently, looking for guests needing a ride. In front is also shopping area with an amusement park.

Getting back to the hotel itself, the breakfast cafeteria/restaurant serves Chinese style meal. It opens at 7:00AM which may be a little late for business guest wanting to start out early. Then, when you get in to the cafeteria, you will often find the staff and chef having breakfast themselves at tables before the guests. You may wonder what is wrong with it. Well, they are there not to serve guests but to take away the used dishes. Items being placed on buffet table stay the same almost all the time with local tastes. Why can't they provide simple fried eggs, bacons, or sausages for a quick grab...?

Then, again, I did not come here for pleasure or sightseeing. It serves the purpose of convenience of proximity to clients.

Room Tip: No concept of non-smoking floor. People come out of elevator smoking. Open the guest room door and...

The description and amenities listed for the hotel is completely inaccurate. First, there are two separate locations for the hotel, approximately 150 yards apart from one another, tower 1 and tower 2. Tower 1 is under construction but remains open. Tower 2 definitely needs to renovated. It's obviously an old building and you can definitely see several issues. The wall papers are very old and peeling. The water damage and stains are very visible in the hallways of every floor and the odor from the damage is very very noticeable. Carpets are old and very dirty. They do keep the lobby clean and organized.

The hotel claimed to have a bar, restaurants, night club, sauna, massage, and a karaoke bar. This is not true. There is no bar. There is a restaurant in each of the tower but not very good at all. There is no night club. There is a karaoke bar but this is just a front for a brothel, as is the case in almost all hotels in Dongguan and Shenzhen. You can go and pick a girl of your choice and pay extra to take her back to your room. Sauna is attached to the rear of tower 2. This is another brothel. You will not get a legitimate sauna experience at this establishment. Only thing they offer is, well you can guess what happens in the sauna. Same thing goes for the massage which is located in tower 2. Floor 2 and 3 have been set aside for the massage parlor. When I went in to check the prices, a young boy, maybe 16 or 17 years old, immediately escorted me into one of the rooms. He explained several different options and pricing for sex service. Not what I was looking for or expected at a four star hotel but then I quickly realized I was in Shenzhen so this was normal.

There is no wifi in the room, even in the suites. Wifi is only in the lobby. Front desk will provide a broadband router if you make a stink about it. Laundry service was excellent. Parking is limited and may have to park on the street. There are no taxis outside so you have to ask the front desk. There is absolutely nothing in the area as far as entertainment goes. The hotel is located away from main part of the town. Traffic is horrendous due to complete lack of traffic controlling devices. Numerous large construction in the immediate area and creates dust, constantly. Very few staff spoke English and it was very limited. House keeping staff were much nicer and professional than the front desk staff. A bell boy asked my guide if we wanted "lady friends" arranged for us and gave his phone number, again this is normal in Shenzhen.

If you are looking for a hotel due to its closeness to your work and don't mind the aforementioned shortcomings, then this is a good place.

I traveled on business. The hotel was recommended by the company I was visiting. I found the staff from the porter, reception, concierge, restaurant staff and others to speak some English. The manager M. Chen spoke excellent English. I was there for 7 nights. Housekeeping was excellent. Laudry service was excellent. The breakfast buffet included a made to order omelet with oatmeal, hot tea , and fruit. The service was excellent. I felt at ease and comfortable throughout my stay. As others have metioned it was very quiet with good internet connectivity. I recommend this hotel for your business stay. As to location - I took taxis everywhere and do not know whether it is centrally located or not. Excellent value and fantastic personal service.

Room Tip: Nonsmoking is on 7th and 8th floor.

Good price for what you get. Clean and well kept rooms, size not bad. Big and hard beds. Big shower area. I will take you a few minutes to find the mirror in the bathroom, quite smart solution... Internet works (cable in room, wireless in public areas) but speed is not great. I have never been disturbed by sound from outside or neighbouring rooms. TV with 4-5 english channels (BBC, Discovery, CNN, National Georgraphic etc.)

Food is chinese-focused, but you can find quite a few european and american once also like spagettis, steaks, BLT's and others. But don't expect any culinary extraordinary experiences. They even have wine, but as most places outside the big cities in China, I would recommend to stick to bear or soft drinks, wine is not really their thing yet. Even if they have a few bottles imported wines, they have no idea how to storage it, many I have tried have been terrible

The hotel has a small spa (sauna, steam room, small pool) and of course plenty of massage rooms as all other China hotels. Nice service and ok in all respects.

I would say location is not suitable for tourists, this is in a B2B area for material trade. But there are a few restaurants around, including a McD.. KTV of course and similar China

Been living on this hotel for a few years and always had good service. English has improved a lot during the years, still a lot of people can not, but you can always get help from someone

Not my first time.
Rate is 330 red including breakfast
Locarion is very special, in the middle of nowhere or mor precisely on the new south china town. Not much to do but much more than one year ago. In a walking distances a some restaurants and bars, a McDonald's , KTV and a mall (huge mall, 8 floors mostly empty but first floor : with sportswear outlets)
The service is a disaster if you expect a European or north America standard. English is barely spoken and google translate is needed !!

Wifi is not a able in room but they can let you a wifi router to plug in your room for free but not expect a proper bandwidth. Even sending email is not easy.

Restaurant is really pricy.

The room is pretty big and clean. The bathroom is very modern with granite, full of glasses, i love the open window feel, Its like a designers hotel. Theres some good restaurants around the hotel. Good and free internet in room. Breakfast is included also, mainly chinese food. Also there is spa and massage in the hotel that cost less than 15 U.S. dollars. Its definitely a great hotel for this price.

Just returned from a week at the Grand City Hotel. The rooms at the hotel are very modern and very clean. The bathroom is very modern with granite and an open window feel. The ceilings are 10ft+ and the TV is a flat screen with 4 english speaking channels. The staff is very accomodating but does not speak understandable english. There is a spa that boasts a 90 minute (legimate) massage for around 13 US dollars. The foot massage is around 6 US dollars and is the best buy.

There are two downsides to this hotel:

1) Beware the water temperature in the shower will not stay constant. The perfect temperature will change to scolding then to ice cold.

2) The hotel is in the middle of an industrial area and is a long 45+ minute cab ride to downtown Shenzhen. The industrial park does not have anything to see or places to eat or banks that take Visa or Mastercard. If your trip is for business this is the place for you. If your trip is for sightseeing I would stay closer to downtown Shenzhen.

Other than those downsides this hotel is perfect.
