“Bizarre attraction”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2014

Rusty creaking decommissioned Soviet aircraft carrier. Wander around various levels to the sound of pleasant elevator Muzak and soviet era propaganda films in Chinese. No English language guidance. Make sure you arrange a lift back to Shenzhen City as this thing is miles away, and it is nearly impossible to find a bus or taxi back ( or anyone to ask about a taxi back unless you speak Mandarin).

The rusting missiles and rockets on board are very interesting. It would have been good to have guides or info in Russian or English to get more info

“A good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2013

Where in the world can you get a chance to board an Aircraft Carrier?
Some of the reviewers here have been less than charitable, by highlighting only the decay of this exhibit. Yes it is old, yes it is rusty, but at least it's there and accessible.
This is a huge vessel, I'm sure it would be impossible to restore to its former glory. But, in my opinion, the derelict nature is a large part of the attraction's charm.
It may not last for too many more decades, so see it while you can.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. You are allowed to walk through it, to touch it, to breathe it, to be included! This is not a stand back and don't touch exhibition, which is the policy of so many museums. I thought it was brilliant.

“Kiwi Keith visits Minsk World”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

Brilliant insight into formidable carrier weapons developed by USSR at the height of "cold war".Quite entertaining as well as informative but not much to eat on board! Very reasonable fee to visit and not at all crowded in morning-relaxing. Easy and cheap taxi from downtown. Some more English(?) language explanation would be helpful to foreigners.

“a true waste of time”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

It's a cultural rape: the ship has been gutted to rearrange it with shops. There is no maintenance so everything is rusted. No explanation either: you have to guess the use of each room. It's basically a floating piece of trash, a true shame, only a brainless mind could have organized it and believe that people would be satisfied to pay 130rmb per head and leave with a smile!

“Crumbling Soviet Relic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

Rather sad sight if your Russian. The Minsk and various old MIG's and YAK's are in a very sad state of repair and the curator's have hacked around with the inner deck layout making it less interesting to the navy buffs - not quite sure why!

This is not like the HMS Belfast or the USS Missouri - but still quite an interesting day out never the less!

The location is abit inconvenient - but plenty of buses.
