“Decent Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2012

Not a bad place to stay if you're visiting Shekou. The rooms are clean and fairly well kept up, and the service is quite good. This hotel offers plenty of nice amenities (including a pool, work out center, spa, etc.) and a decent breakfast in the morning. The location is a short jaunt to the busy night life of "Sea World" but it's not smack dab in the congestion and noise. I have stayed here many times and would certainly recommend it.

Room Tip: The rooms located across the parking lot in the towers are newer, nicer, and larger.

PROS:
* Pretty clean (I am fussy)
* Easy to get in/out of "Sea World" which is a dining district
* Easy to get to/from ferry terminal
* No problems speaking English throughout the hotel/restaurant
* The non-smoking rooms actually don't smell like smoke
* The beds were really firm (if you like that)

CONS:
* The rest of the hotel absolutely reeks like cigarette smoke
* The breakfast buffet was really disgusting. I didn't eat a thing.
* The beds were really firm (if you don't like that)

I was part of a group and everyone agreed that B block was better than A block.

You should also allow expect it to take at least 45 minutes for the check-in process.

Room Tip: Request B block. Also, make sure you are VERY specific about needing a non-smoking room, and phone...

I travel to Shenzhen every month and always stay at the Ming Wah the staff are very helpful and the location is great for Shekou Sea world. Also the hotel exits directly on to the road going up to Nanshan Mountain many people walk this road on a morning and at weekends.

Only down side some of the rooms need to be upgraded, buy I always stay in a suit and I get the same one every time I return.

Room Tip: Suit mountain side

Was in this hotel for a day in December 2007.

What I loved about this hotel was its location. Though it wasn't really city centre, the ferry terminal was very closeby and shopping centres were also a short taxi ride away. The hotel also had a few good nightclubs and discotheques around.

The restaurant was good enough and the staff very courteous.

Just across the compound, there was a massage centre & spa. The services there were quite good.

Have been staying in this hotel many many times and it's really a good one.
Make sure you are asking to stay in 'B' building, rather than 'A' building (the old part). The different is really big. Prices is also a bit higher (but worth).
Access to many international TV channels for free. Internet access for free.
Buffet breakfast available at the Ground floor of 'A' building.
There is a 7-eleven just at the feet of the hotel and walking access to Sea World with lot of International restaurant (Thai, Japanese, Startbucks, Irish pub, Mexican, Korean, KFC and Mc Donalds. A supermarket is not so far (ParknShop) and Walmart can be accessed by taxi or bus (plenty of bus, but can use 113 or 113K).
There is now subway construction in Sea World, so it's a bit messy and hear the noise from the hotel from time to time.
It is not so far from the ferry terminal (12,5 RMB by taxi or 20 RMB with the Toyota Camri or the hotel). There is also a shuttle bus between hotel and ferry terminal (free).
Room is big and clean. Bathroom also. Can make hot coffee or tea.
Have room service.
There is not much shopping area next to the hotel. Better go in deeper Shekou, or in Walmart area (have GOME and Garden CIty Mall) or to downtown area.
English spoken at the lobby. Quite difficult while making Room Service orders ...
