“Satisfying Shenzhen”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

This tour was with Gray Line and was called the Shenzhen City Tour and Theme Parks.
Well organised. Great tour leaders. Very helpful with a good command of English. Wasn't cheap - HK$940 per adult but included everything: coaches, train trip, visas, entrance fees, lunch, etc
First stop was the Jade museum. Very interesting. Very colourful. Great until we went next door to the "shop". That's when the hard sell started. The Jade museum is NOT mentioned in the brochure. Next stop was the Shenzhen Museum of History and Folk Centre. Absolutely outstanding. Huge. Fabulous. A highlight and so totally unexpected. Loved it. From here we went to The Shangri-la Hotel for a dim sum / yum cha lunch. Ate most everything. Fresh. Abundant. Delicious. (Very unlike the Macau tour we did 3 years ago with the same company. Lunch was inedidble. Sparse. Stank. Starved for the day. Due to that experience we took food with us this time: un-needed.) Second half of the day was spent at Window of The World. Fantastic and funny (see my specific review of this attraction).
Out of the whole coach we were the only ones to do this. Everyone else went shopping. Am not into fakes. Prefer the real thing. if you are into "Bali crap" and bargaining, then this is the place for you. Although, I was surprised at the end of the day, how little was bought by the others on the tour. Walking across the station concourse and being harassed before getting to any shops was enough for me. No thanks.
The entire day was great. Totally recommend doing it.
Traveller Tip: make sure you have Yuan (Chinese$$) with you. Told this by tour leader, about the shopping but not about the theme park. Our fault for assuming but the tour company needs to be very specific when giving out this info. It was an absolutely stinking hot day. After drinking our 2 bottles of water at theme park, couldn't buy more as we only had HK$$ with us. Flat refusal to allow us to use in any shops within park. Almost died from heat exhaustion (slight exaggeration but ...... ).

“Prepare to bargain !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

We went to Shenzen ,from the Hong Kong border , its a guided tour and they already arranged all the necessary transportation by train ,and private coach minibus. We already applied our visa from the Indonesian embassy , about USD 55.For single entry. We were brought to the Shenzen's biggest and busiest complex of shopping malls and shopping streets. Some are fixed price but somes shops are bargainable. Can find many fake branded items here in Shenzen , and a mindblowing array of local brands you can imagine. My advice is not to buy fake or a copy of a famous brand electronics ! It will fail to work not long from you buy it, because its poor quality. We visited China quite a lot , and each visit , if we take a guided tour , they always brought us to Jade factories/shops, chinese medicine ,and silk factories. But it 's just a visit, promoting their country's product ,its free weather if you wanted to buy or not.

“Shopping Tour to Shenzhen China”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

We went on a day trip to China from Hong Kong . The trip was advertised on the brochure as a day of shopping at the shopping centre in Shenzhen. Fortunately I had read Trip Advisor and was prepared for the Jade and Silk factories in the morning. There was quite a hard sell in these places and as we browsed around the shops we did not plan to be in we were followed by a salesperson who continually tried to encourage us to buy good we did not want at inflated prices. Lunch was provided but we were with a group of Australian "tradies" on a conference and they ordered and paid for 4 more main courses to fill them up. We had only two hours at the shopping centre but were prepared for this. We had a lot of fun and our tour guides were fantastic helping us bargain and helping with the paper work at the border. We had an enjoyable day but could have had an extra hour at the bargain centre and less of the hard sell at the Jade and silk outlets .

“take your wallet and your sense of humour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

we did a day trip which cost around, 160 aussie dollars, but this tour was fully escorted, they managed all the train tickets, visa and bus trips, as well as a good lunch. you visit a couple of dubious stops, one to view the large painting of the country's leader, and another to the Jade factory, but you are not pressured to buy. the artist colony is interesting , but the time here could be reduced by half and added to the shopping portion of the trip. the shopping centre itself is worth the effort, with great handbags, shoes and scarves, clothes. we had 2 hours and visited 3 of the 6 floors. name brands are available, we bought, VANS skate shoes for around 23 aussie dollars a pair, runners and fashion shoes all for good prices. scarves for ladies 3 for around 12 aussie dollars. we took Hong Kong dollars which are fine to use, but they prefer the Yuan which was at a higher rate. a must for those who call shopping a pastime they enjoy!!

“Not the Best Experience ~ Lo Wu Shopping Mall”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

We booked this tour through Infinity holidays before leaving Australia. Pickup, Drivers, Train Trip, Guides both in Hong Kong and China were good and looked after all the visas, train tickets etc. Had to cross the border and go through border control twice in Hong Kong and twice in China, a bit time consuming. There were only six of us on this tour. Advise you to take their currency.

Brochure didn't mention we had to visit Culture Centre (Jade Factory Terracotta Warriors) or the Silk Factory and Window of the World. These were compulsory stops and not what we have come on the tour to do, which was shop. Jade factory was very dear, offered tea tasting and to purchase the tea. Terracotta warriors (4) were good though. Silk factory was ok and some made purchases but again not what most of us were there for. Window of the World would have been good to see but it was only a spot for taking photos and where our photographer met us.

Lunch was in a restaurant and two of the people on the tour were vegetarians and they were not catered for. Plenty of Asian food though and it was very nice. Photos were taken of each couple at Window of the World and offered for sale on a plate and in frames. These were delivered to where we had lunch.

Finally, after lunch. we arrived at the Shopping centre. Normally they only allow 1-2 hours at the shopping centre but as we were a small group we were allowed 4 hours. Shopping centre was over about 8 levels. Had to visit a shop of their choice first and the hard sell to purchase items that were cheaper in the shopping centre. Staff sat outside every shop calling you "missy" and trying to get you into the shops. I personally hated this only entered shops that didn't pressure me. Things were cheaper in Hong Kong anyway. Bags Scarves electronics etc were for sale but I hardly looked at anything because of the pressure. Escaped to a coffee shop and then sat down for about 1 1/2 hours. so it was a waste of time as far as I was concerned.

Would not go on this trip again, Brochure should have mentioned all stops, because if you really wanted to shop normally there would not be enough time. Stay in Hong Kong and get bargains there. Long day over 9 hours with travelling time.

Only asian style toilets available in Shenzhen also.
