We stayed here for three nights between arriving on the Navimag ferry and heading up to Torres del Paine. We had a room with two sets of bunk beds and an en suite shower room. The friendly host Rodrigo greeted us and insisted on making us tea and then recommended somewhere to eat. The hostel is close to town (easy walking distance), but not in the middle of things.
Breakfast was scrummy, including Rodrigo's homemade bread. He regaled us with stories of his time as a cook in Antarctica, and his epic recycling efforts, as we ate. He is a very interesting individual, who believes passionately in what he does. This makes for an unusual B&B/hostel, where nothing is wasted but everything is still very comfortable. The price was excellent, although Rodrigo added a few extra costs such as some scanning. He also cooked us an evening meal, which was more expensive than many of the restaurants in town! It was delicious though.
There was free wifi in the communal lounge/kitchen, which was fine for checking emails. There was always hot water and the shower was good. The beds were extremely comfortable too. Rodrigo pretty much built everything himself, which was rather impressive.
All in all a good place to stay if you care about recycling and the environment (or even if you don't), and enjoy chatting about them, as well as diverse topics such as world politics and Antarctic weather. Rodrigo is a unique and really rather wonderful person, as is his B&B.
