“Worth every cent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

We stayed at The Singular Hotel late April, just before it closed for winter. In every respect this was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. We had an inclusive package and that included being picked up at Punta Arenas airport. Our driver had a pack of refreshments for us and he was happy to point out sights, including an owl, as we drove to the hotel. The staff at reception were excellent and in no time we were in our wonderful rooms looking out onto the lake. The food was excellent and pre-dinner drinks came with delicious canapes. Our package entitled us to choose anything from the main menu, and drinks. Thank goodness we stayed for three nights, so we could try many options. The afternoon we arrived we were taken to a cave which once contained a milodon skeleton. The next day we chose the full day excursion to Torres del Paine and our guide prepared a lovely picnic lunch for us. On the last day we did a boat trip and a walk to two glaciers and again our guide was very knowledgable. In the afternoon we did a guided tour of the hotel, including the excellent museum.

Sadly we left the following day, but The Singular took us all the way to El Calafate, across the border with Argentina. No hassles! This was a long drive but we were given a packed lunch.
One problem of being there late in the season was that the days were short, but the advantages were no wind at all, and lovely autumn leaves as we walked through Antarctic Beech forests. I guess our package was expensive, but we enjoyed the experience so much that if we ever had an excuse, we would be back, even from Australia!

Room Tip: All the tooms are excellent but if you have a mobility problem choose a room close to the lift.

We have stayed in a lot of beautiful hotels but the Singular is by far our favorite. I had read a lot of reviews prior to staying at the Singular so had high expectations. These were exceed by far once we arrived. The original buildings are beautifully restored, the view from our room was spectacular and the service exceptional. I have given the Singular an excellent rating but I don't think it does it justice, it's so hard to describe you just have to go there.

Room Tip: It doesn't matter all the room are amazing.

I was given a trip to South America by a dear client, and everything was planned out for us. The Singular was our first stop and I could not have been more pleased. The staff was incredible. the building a historical yet modern mix of old-time South American factory life and luxurious amenities, and the food was out of this world. We were on the full board plan, which included unlimited food and alcohol (except top shelf, but that was very few things and everything we wanted was included), which I would highly recommend. The menu used local concepts and ingredients; one of my favorites was the garden soup, which was a different color each night, showing how many different fresh veggies were used. The wine, all of which was included, was exactly what you'd expect from Chilean wine- beautiful and balanced.

The excursions were also planned well, and rated by level fo difficulty. We did think the medium hike up the Andes, rated medium, was a bit challenging; we were both college athletes and currently play many recreational sports, so we are certainly in shape, but that hike was rough. Now, to be fair, we were on five hours of sleep thanks to the incompetency of Delta Airlines (which I'll get to later), but definitely be prepared for a true excursion.

Horseback riding was my favorite excursion; it was a lovely ride with a knowledegable guide and we got to see much of the countryside and learn much of the history.

We wanted to bike, but it was too rainy/muddy our last day and it was canceled. You are at the mercy of the weather in Patagonia. We did take a cheap taxi (about $8) to the little town nearby, shopping and playing with the cute stray dogs, so that was fun. We also visited an artisan village for lots of souvenirs.

I hit the spa at the Singular, which also lived up to its luxurious branding. The prices were comparable to an American spa, so nothing too outrageous.

Without getting too much into our airline troubles because this isn't the place, and I might explode, we ended up arriving in Chile 12 hours later than expected. As the Singular is about three hours later from the airport, we had to last-minute change our pickup time via email (no cell service where we were stuck), and the Singular had to send a driver out at 9 pm to get to us at midnight to drive us back to the property, in the dark, no streetlights, arriving at 3 am. We felt so badly, but the driver was friendly, happy and had little bags of food and water waiting for us in the car. That's the kind of service you get here- everyone is happy to make you happy, even when it is an inconvenience.

All in all, I highly recommend this property. It is truly an experience unlike any other. I've been to every continent except Asia thus far and I can say, without a doubt, this was the best place I have ever stayed.

This is the quirkiest hotel we have ever stayed in and one of the best. The service is second to none , very personal attention from the managers and staff. We were lucky enough to be staying at the end of season and enjoyed individual attention in the hotel and also on our trips into the National Park with perfect weather and a very knowledgeable guide and driver. I Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

The Singular Patagonia is in a stunning location and is an innovative renovation of a unique building, but it is the staff who make it truly exceptional. We came across it having hired bikes in Puerto Natales and ridden along the waterfront. The building from the outside is kept very original and has very little explanation as to what lies inside. We just saw a sign for hotel and went in for a coffee. The staff were so welcoming and helpful despite the fact that we looked totally unlike the sort of people they would expect to stay with them, we were in old training shoes and tracksuits. They showed us round and explained the history of the building (it is a redundant meat packing factory and has a lot of the original machinery and structures including engines from England). We had lovely coffee and homemade biscuits for the same price as you would expect to pay in Chile in a good cafe. While we were there I looked it up on Booking.com with the free WiFi and we decided to treat ourselves on return from doing the 'W' trail - also highly recommended!
Our stay was every bit as good as our first impression of the hotel. The rooms are massive with picture windows stretching the length of the wall along the waterfront, the bathrooms very grand, the Spa area relaxing (an indoor/outdoor heated pool) and the restaurant lovely. Again though it was the staff who made the stay for us, from the reception, the bar and restaurant, the lady in the Spa, the cleaners to the chap who brought our bags.
We are not usually 5* people, we spent a month in Chile mainly in hostels but it was worth making an exception for the Singular!

Room Tip: I think they all have the same stunning outlook.
