“History, Charm & Pampering”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2012

You hope that after a 23 hour journey to get somewhere it is worth it and I must say The Singular Patagonia is worth every minute spent on a plane to get there. The first thing that strikes you is the incredible landscape that is straight out of the pages of National Geographic. The Singular is in a converted 100-year old factory right on the edge of a Fjord overlooking snowcapped mountains. Amazing!! The rooms are huge and have floor to ceiling windows providing clear views of the surroundings at all times. The bathrooms have heated floors. Never knew how much I enjoyed heated floors before!

Each day we went on a different expedition with awesome Enlish speaking guides. The horseback riding is a must! The restaurant which is in one of the original brick buildings has been beautifully decorated. The food was in line with everything else at the hotel - excellent. We had local items like Hare and Guanaco which were quite tasty plus incredible Chilean wines.

After 5 nights on property I felt like staying even longer but alas the real world calls. I do however look forward to returning!

Room Tip: They are all new and amazing. Only a few have a TV but I didn't turn mine on once.

We were in Patagonia with Explora before staying at the Singular for 2 nights and then transferring over to Punta Arenas. Whilst we were at the Explora and we chatted to our guides there our plans after Explora - they got extremely excited about our stay at The Singular. They informed us it was true luxury! We were quite surprised by this because we already though the Explora was rather luxurious in itself.

The Singular had arranged for an excellent, experienced guide Gabi to meet us at the Explora Lodge and guided us to the Base of the Towers. To our surprise, Gabi came equipped with our lunch which included a soup, sandwiches and along the way, we had an EXCELLENT delicious and energising home made granola bar and brownies. There was also a bag of dried fruits and nuts.

After the long hike, the driver dropped us back to The Singular and immediately the mood lighting of the garage and the glass lift was enough to arouse curiosity in this luxury property.

We found The Singular experience the highlight of our Patagonian visit. It’s an indulgent and delightful stay in terms of:
1. The property is a museum and stepped in wonderful English and German manufacturing glory.
2. Rooms are spacious and each have an amazing view of the shoreline.
3. The restaurant and bar - has the look and feel of a Michelin star restaurant. The long bar - the opulence in the furnishing and library wooden atmosphere gives the feeling of richness that is unusual for a ‘trekking/horse riding/ hiking holiday in the great outdoors’.
4. The food itself is impressive - Chef Anan is talented. I loved all my meals there which are all comparable to London Michelin star restaurants. See pictures
5. The guides used for the excursions and activities - we had Chichin and Gabi - both are experienced, knowledgeable and perfect guides. We hiked the base towers, horse riding with gauchos.

Area for improvement
Since the restaurant also functions for non guests, I think sometimes after staying for a few nights the menu needs to have a lunch variations rather than the same menu served for lunch and dinner.

Final Verdict -
I would say, if you are looking to combine unrivalled luxury, exclusivity and uniqueness together with wildlife, nature then this is undisputed leader of the pack!

Room Tip: I beleive all rooms face the pier /shoreline. We managed to get sunrise on both nights :)

We stayed at the Singular Hotel for two nights and the experience was incredible! from the moment when our transport collected us and there was a care package on the seat containing delicious brownies, muffins and sandwiches to get us through the drive, there was anticipation of what was to come. The service, the attention to detail in the design, the food, the excursions. Everything! highly recommend making the trip to stay at the Singular, wish we were there longer.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights in April and absolutely loved it. The design of the hotel, attention to detail in both the public spaces and rooms (fabrics, feather pillows in common areas, bed linens, heated floors in the bathrooms), views from the rooms, and service were top notch. It is by far one of the best hotels and trips I've had.

Our guides Sergio (horseback riding), Lorena (Torres del Paine trekking), and George (sailing to the glaciers) were all knowledgeable, accommodating and super fun. Pamela (restaurant manager) arranged a special meal for us when they didn't have what we wanted on the menu. All of the staff was professional, helpful and friendly.

Pros: EVERYTHING- tours are all privately organized by the hotel which means small groups and top notch guides, rooms were comfortable with great views, fantastic service, great design and vibe, good location.

Cons: The only complaint I have and would be more of a suggestion- is to change the menu a couple of times a week and add another pasta dish.

Also, I highly recommend doing the all-inclusive package. They will pick you up at the airport, organize all your daily tours, and provide all food and beverages. The only thing you need to worry about is tipping. Absolutely fantastic.

Room Tip: All rooms are great- not a bad room in the place. We were in 305 and had a perfect view of the pier.

I was lucky enough to stay here prior to the opening as a guest of the owners. Not everything was done when I first went...but the design of the hotel from the funicular at the entrance to the walk through the musuem to get to your room was special. The rooms themselves are wonderful with great big beds looking out a huge picture window on the lake. The location near Puerto Natales makes it very accessable and the daily excursions are perfect for every taste. You can kayak (a little cold but exciting with the wind blowing off the glaciers) or horseback ride at the nearby farm (my horse was great but a little skittish when a piece of paper flew through the trees...she nearly dumped me). The ride up into the hills near the Meladon cave was especially exciting. After we enjoyed a Chlean barbeque, a la Singular, at the cabin that can also be rented by the hotel. With the lake nearby and the scenery...wow!
Not to be missed is the excursion to the nearby Balmaceda Glacier. Singular has their own yachts to take you in style to the base of this beauty. You can also go hiking or learn about the history of Peurto Natales and sheep farming in Chilean Patagonia.
Love my stay and will go back!

Room Tip: All rooms have spectacular views, but be sure to get one closer to the elevators or you will have qu...

The staff at the hotel all are endeavoring to make it an unforgettable experience. No request is too grand and they will customize to make guests happy. The property is exquisite and unique - a former slaughterhouse and processing plant make for stunning interiors. All rooms have lake and mountain views. The menu is gourmet and diverse, but I wouldn't want to be there for more than a week as it is not that deep. Overall the food is local, fresh and generally excellent, although the desserts were hit and miss. The Singular only opened 5 months ago and is looking to become a leading luxury brand in South America. It will take time. The Shangri-La, Peninsula, and others have had years to hone their formula and train their staffs. This can not be done in 5 months so there are some inconsistencies at the hotel. Wait and bar service is inconsistent, yet always friendly. The Wifi connections were strong, but the music selection and spa layout could be improved. The excursions are where the the real value comes in. Groups are small, if not private and the guides are excellent (especially Francisco or Pancho). They will tailor them to your needs and the scenery is incredible. It is not the most conveniently located hotel, but you can easily do a day or 2 in Torres del Paine, and many other Patagonian sites.
If you are looking for a unique luxury experience, the Singular is an excellent choice.

The hotel opened in November 2011, the rooms are spacious with the window being floor to ceiling, full width of the room looking out over a lake.
The restaurant is excellent with cuisine of the highest quility. The bar area with its high backed comfortable chairs has a style of old world charm, once settled in this is a hard place to leave.
A variety of daily tours are arranged to view the local area, be it by boat or in one of the hotels four wheel drives.
The hotel staff and the tour drivers and guides were excellent, nothing was a trouble to them, at all times they could not do enough to assist you.
The Singular was the high point of our South American holiday.
Travellers looking for a relaxing few days break, The Singular is a must.
